Despite predicted dominance at the box office this Thanksgiving weekend, Twi-hards seemed to be too busy stuffing their faces with food to keep up with movie-goers set to see Sandra Bullock‘s football drama The Blind Side.
Raking in $9.5 million, The Blind Side rushed ahead (barely) of New Moon, which received $9.2 million—raising its cumulative total to $188.4 million.
Will this keep up the rest of the holiday weekend? While I certainly do not possess Alice Cullen’s psychic abilities, I’ve surmised ten reasons as to why the latest installment of The Twilight Saga could be losing its box office grip.

10. Since the guys went to see the sci-fi drama last weekend, they got to drag the gals to see Ninja Assassin this time around.
9. Critical reception is getting to movie-goers. Those on the fence as to whether they ought to shell out the cash for the vampire phenomenon are relying on reviews, which don’t put the film in very good light (despite what director Chris Weitz says).
8. Oprah fans weren’t feeling Stephenie Meyer.
7. Robsten shippers were upset that they haven’t gone public yet and are therefore on strike until they do so.
6. All the Twi-hards recovering from last week’s theater camping adventures are too pooped out to continue their slave duties to the franchise.
5. Conspiracy Theory: Dark Knight fans teamed up to distract Twi-hards (i.e. guys who hate the series kept their Edward-obsessed girlfriends home, Batman nerds poisoned Jacob teamsters with sleeping pills on Thanksgiving) from touching any more records.
4. Not enough Kellan Lutz.
3. Not enough Robert Pattinson.
2. Too many fans are recovering from the overload of Taylor Lautner‘s abs (or are simply now biding their time until he turns 18).
1. Everyone was simply… disappointed with the sequel.
What do you think—will New Moon reign supreme this holiday weekend?
