Alice in Wonderland's White Queen will soon be adopting a much darker wardrobe.
It's just been announced that Anne Hathaway has won the role of Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman) in the next Batman installment. The 28-year-old is now the latest Academy Award nominee -- following Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry -- to play the famous character.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Anne was chosen over a list of contenders that included Keira Knightley, Jessica Biel and Kate Mara.

Also revealed today was the identity of Tom Hardy's character. Hardy, who previously worked with director Christopher Nolan on Inception, has been cast as Bane.
Bane, a villain that had a minor role in 1997's Batman & Robin, was a drug-addicted prison escapee who ultimately became known as "The Man Who Broke the Bat." (He earned that title after breaking Bruce Wayne's back and leaving him a paraplegic.)
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story," Nolan said in a statement. “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
The Dark Knight Rises will open on July 20, 2012.
