Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Jennifer Garner: The former Alias star will be replacing mad fighting skills with carving skills in Butter. The political satire will feature Garner as a butter sculpture phenom in a Midwestern town. No director has officially been assigned to the project.

Maria Bello: The History of Violence actress is in talks to set aside indie dramas for a mainstream comedy. Bello may be joining Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade in a film about former high school friends. Maria would play Kevin James’ wife in the Happy Madison production.

Terrence Howard: He might not be starring in the Iron Man sequel, but Howard will soon be going into battle. The Oscar nominee will join Cuba Gooding Jr., Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Ne-Yo, Method Man and Tristan Wilds (90210) for Red Tails, a WWII drama about the Tuskegee Airmen. George Lucas will serve as co-creator and executive producer.

Kevin Spacey: A story about losing it all might not sound like a comedy, but this one is. The Oscar-winner is set to produce and star in Father of Invention, a tale about an inventor who is eventually sent to prison when a product goes awry. The former billionaire later focuses on rebuilding his fortune when he is released eight years later.

Aaron Eckhart: The Dark Knight star is in talks to join Nicole Kidman for Rabbit Hole, an adaptation of the David Lindsay-Abaire novel. The duo would portray a married couple that is jolted by the death of their young son. Kidman would also serve as a producer.

Nicole Kidman: Speaking of Kidman, the new mom has just been added to Woody Allen’s next film. The star-studded cast already includes Freida Pinto, Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts and Antonio Banderas. No plot or title has yet been announced.

Megan Fox: The Transformers actress has just been added to Passion Plays, a “heartwarming” drama already starring Mickey Rourke. Fox is slated to play an angel who tries to help Rourke find redemption in 1950s Los Angeles. The film will be written and directed by Mitch Glazer, the screenwriter behind Scrooged.
