The Da Vinci Code Impressions

The compelling plot behind the blockbuster motion picture The Da Vinci Code has bloomed into a video game spinoff that seems worthy of all the attention its release has garnered. Whereby most games that take their cues from books or movies may seem lackluster or untrue to the original, The Da Vinci Code is jam packed with enough thrills, mysterious puzzles, and a variety of things to see and do that will make this game worth your while.
Taking on the roll of main characters Robert Langdon and Sophie Nevue, gamers work their way through challenging puzzles involving a mysterious murder that leaves the protaganists desperately following a strange chain of clues. The noticeable lack of any weapons may leave many scratching their heads in confusion, but have no fear - any weapons you’ll pick up during a fight will be objects within the room. Gamers also have the option of taking advantage of the superb yet simple grappling system, involving hand to hand combat. Pushing a series of buttons will allow your characters to unleash powerful kicks, combos and attacks to force your attacker away from you. Fun stuff.
Throughout the game, each puzzle you solve and bits of information you find will instantly be stored in the game’s database, easily helping you sort through the loads of information you’ve uncovered while playing. You’ll play as both characters, allowed to switch between the two and oftentimes work to solve puzzles together as a team. What’s more, the makers behind The Da Vinci Code enable two bonus levels to be unlocked after you’ve completed each puzzle in the game.
With Xbox, PS2 and PC versions available, The Da Vinci Code is a game that stays true to its origins without giving you a sense of deja vu and will delight gamers of all ranks.
