  • WOW, This POST REALLY MADE MY DAY!!!!!!

IT’S Awesome, and it deserves every cent!, Now I’m thinking of buying one. Many thanks for posting this.

Also I like the way how the hard drive is attached, it’s way better and faster then using enclosure.

  • Is this from BlacX?  They are notorious for making this futuristic, things-you-see-in-movies, hot-swapping enclosures.

    BlacX N0029USU: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0283304
    BlacX N0028USU: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0280775

Both are those hot-swapping units…they seem cool but dont offer much protection from blunt objects - blunt force trauma!  The N0029USU has a 4 port USB hub / docking station.

  • :o

This actually seems interesting, one that I can find myself buying and using quite regularly.

  • Well that didn’t seem right on first look,
Isn’t placing the hard drive like that bad for the internals?

    posted by: DOOOMKULTUS · 6/2/08

  • No, hard drives can be placed in any position. Moving them while they run is the only no no.

    posted by: protaganis · 6/2/08

  • Yeah, agreed, proaganis. You can’t move it, so I don’t think what they have there is a good idea at all.

Having said that, it would be useful to be able to test HDs quickly… and if all else fails, it would make a pretty nice piece of art on your desk.

Anyone know if its coming out in the UK?

  • This thing is Sweet! I totally want one for myself. It would be so handy for swapping drives on comps, and for reading drives that need repairs.

  • So it’s pretty much a external hard drive with a bunch of features. Could be very useful…

  • Very Cool. I have had many of boot sectors die on my Hard Drives. This would be perfect when a drive wont boot in windows. Where can i buy this?

  • Now that is one awesome utility! I was flipping through my X-Treme Geek catalog the other day and ran into this:

    http://www.x-tremegeek.com/templates/SearchDetail.asp?productID=22660

It is a lot like this, without the multi-function. I was about to order it, but now that I see this, I would much rather get this!

    Thanks!

  • i still think it isnt safe, the dock is external and can be nudged accidentally, easily .

  • wow that is a really cool idea…looks like something that i would buy

  • wow very nice product.Even has memory card reader & flash drive slot. Now if only the price would have been a bit low.

  • This is very cool. I like the equipment.

posted by: Shady Freak · 6/4/08

  • Wow, you’re right, this thing can do basically everything!  The price is not that bad either, and for the more experienced tech user, this is a great little device!  However, I feel like the average person would get too confused with this…

  • This would be really useful for testing out hard drives with different operating systems on my PC.  I can think of many different purposes that it would help me out with.  I think this is a steal for a price of $79.  The USB 2.0 ports, and memory cards make it worth the price.
