Looks like Spawn without the costume. Anyone wanna see this? @-)
John Constantine has been to hell and back.
Born with a gift he didn’t want, the ability to recognize the half-breed angels and demons that walk the earth in human camouflage, Constantine (KEANU REEVES) was driven to take his own life to escape the tormenting clarity of his vision. But he failed. Resuscitated against his will, he found himself cast back into the land of the living. Now, marked as an attempted suicide with a temporary lease on life, he patrols the earthly border between heaven and hell, hoping in vain to earn his way to salvation by waging war on the earthbound minions of evil.
But Constantine is no saint. Increasingly disillusioned by the world around him and at odds with the one beyond, he’s a hard-drinking, hard-living bitter hero who scorns the very idea of heroism. Constantine will fight to save your soul but he doesn’t want your admiration or your thanks - and certainly not your sympathy.
All he wants is a way out.
When a desperate but skeptical police detective (RACHEL WEISZ as Angela Dodson) enlists his help in solving the mysterious death of her beloved twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldy events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.
part of me wants to see this, as it could be a really sweet action flick that actually has a story….then the other half of my goes “wait, keanu reeves” and some parts of the trailer just look stupid….so i’m torn….i’ll prolly end up seeing it if my friends decide to.
Yeah, this is one to see with your friends. I’m thinking it’s not going to be as good as Matrix, but it has a huge amount of effects going on, so it could be good. It’s one of those films that, like you, I can’t decide if it will be good or not. If I had a HDTV, I’d pass and wait for the DVD.
I saw it and it was pretty good but there was not as much action as I expected. Story was semi confusing at parts but that could just be me. so just go see it its worth a shot :D
I saw Constantine this weekend. It was good. I’m Catholic so I like that hidden religious junk :D I saw it on a Digital DLP screen so it looked super tight. I’d say a little less action than I would’ve wanted but overall a good movie.
My DLP screen had terrible sound-volume so I missed out on a couple plot points. :x
Still this movie was really really good. You won’t feel like you’ve just wasted your money at all. The characters were great! The CGI was good: not overdone, but put to really good effect. Action was lacking but it made up for it in terms of atmosphere and concept.

[quote author=“ridv3490”][quote author=“gobulls404”]it got pretty bad reviews. I trust them. It has a 6.6 at http://www.imdb.com . A bad movie wouldn’t get that. Keep in mind that no movie has ever gotten a perfect 10 there.
[quote author=“HectorGearLive”][quote author=“antman22”]i have one question: Does it have Jesus shooting demons with a big huge machine gun? cuz if it does, i’m in.
There’s a small scene with Neo blasting some half-breeds. It’s not a machine gun, and again it’s very very short. Action is rare in this film.
Neo? Someone’s got a different movie in mind. 😛
I saw it Monday morning and was really looking forward to it. Overall, for me, it was kind of “blah”. It had great effects, cool scenes and a cool concept but I couldn’t really get into it like I thought I would. A big part of it was probably because I had to wake up early to go to see it lol…maybe I was still too tired heh.
But I am definitely going to get it on DVD so maybe after I watch it again at home it will be easier to really get into. I mean I did like it, just not as much as I was thinking I would. The effects and imagry were kickass though, and as said above, not overdone so it worked well.
