I wouldn’t say that the board is dead. It’s just that the popular Free Stuff forum isn’t as active because there aren’t as much free stuff sites anymore. Maybe if GearLive held more contests that involved posting in the forums, more people would come, hint hint. (Speaking of which, I still haven’t got my prize from the Holiday contest. I hope it comes soon!)
However, things are difficult. If GearLive wants to hold more contests, they need more viewers so that more advertisers will want to advertise here. But, if contests are what drivers viewers to GearLive, then…
In any case, I hope everything works out for the best.
I have been posting like a week but upon a recent exploration of the forums I have found it to be much more populated than I thought. The shows are the best I have seen, your personalities outshine those from other podcasts and stuff. and I think the forums will grow because lots of new people have GOT to be comming to this site for the bleeding edge.

Hey, the board is only as good as the people who post on it. Just keep posting…keep things going. I’m sure every forum has spells where posting rates are not as high as they would like…
I am new here. I am a bit of a gadget head. Out of curiosity, what was better about the old forums? The software? Just weird to see people talking about forums dying off so significantly just from something like a software change. But stranger things have happened.
Some of it is because the bigwigs had like 10k plus post counts and that meant a lot to them…..
Ah I gotcha. I could understand that to a degree. People develop the community feel a part of it and feel things like post count represent a level of status. With a change-over that status can be erased and people might not feel like building it back up.
The only thing I can say is that every post has it merits and people should respect each other posts regardless of whether they are being paid to post or not. There is freedom of expression in here within reason and each individual should be respected as such. And if it is true that some people are getting paid to post then I believe it’s for the greater good of the site, otherwise they wouldn’t be getting paid. And once again, I apologise for starting any old posts. I can see that some people are really upset about that. I am new and accidentally posted in these dead threads…but now that I’ve looked at the legends I’m sure it won’t happen again.
