Very impressive. The engine is superb in every way. MUCH better than halo 2 in my opinion. The first part of the game you are pretty much running and it gets pretty frantic and it’s awesome. I am so sucked in to the games atmosphere and everything because of the realistic engine and the way the game is presented. When you finally get a gun you are really satisfied, even if it is just a pistol. I love the way the pistol shoots and sounds and its just amazing killing things left and right with it. Man this game is so damn sweet… I think I might beat this one quick because I’m playing it soo much. Someone needs to mod it and make a multiplayer with the engine.

Doesn’t it come with built-in CounterStrike?  Also, I only have a Geforce3, but I do have 512 RAM.  How does it run?

Yeah my brother called today when one of his friends bought the game that lives with him on college. He said the engine is so much better than any game he had seen before. Also that its not linear at all like Doom 3.

He mentioned that you could break a bottle and pick up only the broken pieces if you liked. \:D/

You can run this game with practically any card and processor… just not at high settings. With that geforce, Id say medium textures and bilinear filtering all across the board. You can run the game really well if you cut any further. The game picks what settings will run the game smoothly… but if you have a slower processor, youll get a lot of hiccups because of the autosave and texture transfer. Youll wanna disable autosave, and I forget the console command for it at the moment.

UPDATE:Sweet got it to work, had to uninstall my old steam install. 😉

MEssage me on AIM about it or search steam forums… if you bought retail there’s a ton of problems… but if you went through steam, like me, you are good to go! :D Valve really rushed this whol auth. online thing and are having major problems right now. They are trying their best to fix everthing, so hopefully everyone will be patient. This game is incredible… so it’s really worth the wait. I just hope you have a rig to run high settings on, because its amazing,

Oh yeah I have the high end system and this game is absolutely amazing so far. Completely owns Doom 3 and Farcry. :roll:

Yeah dude half life 2 owns. The source engine is amazing And since you can interact with things around you like bottles and barrels etc. It makes the gravity gun perfect for the gun. I’ve only played CS:S emporio But even that is amazing and i am on my way downloading hl2 emporio (its taking 5 days!! :x ) The one thing that is very glitchy in this whole steam register play system Is That you have to be on the internet to download all the patches and stuff. So first off my friend gets kicked off the net in the middle of his download And just for me to update it took 30 minutes i already had most of it preloaded (on his account) But the one secure thing about it Is that i couldnt play his account hl2 over steam because it reqires the disk to play.

Everybody should buy this game. Nuff said.

I think $55 is ridiculously expensive for a game.. but i plan on getting a copy in a few days :D i have a scheme to rip off wally word and still have the game

Source engine is very amazing. I was awe-struck the first time I saw this on a friend’s great computer. My only complaint is that Valve didn’t make a third person model for your character, so third person view isn’t available at all. This hinders online mode, but people are importing other character models from the game to use in multiplayer, so I guess it’s all good.

Great ending, too, IMO.

how hard is it to remove the plastic seal on the outside of the packaging without making any blemishes?

wont the plastic melt? its as thin as a piece of tape and its on the outside of the box on the top tab to open up the box.

uhmm I havent used steam yet so i wouldnt know and wouldnt if i registered the KEY first than it would be for me and the 2nd person who got it would be fawked?

im sorta dredging this topic out of the grave, only cuz i just recently got hl2. i justified chunking 40 bucks on a game cuz i consider it an accessory to my new monitor, lol. i gotta test it out somehow right?!?!?

i really enjoy this game. unfortunatly tho, i start getting dizzy after 30-45 min of play, haha. its so worth the dizzy.
