Sorry, not to be a know it all, but here’s the answer:
Animals have tails for a multitude of reasons, the most common are as follows:
1) Help in balancing & turning
2) Help to move forward
3) For display {ie-peacock}
4) For Defense {ie-alligator/croc}
5) For holding onto things {ie-monkey}
6) Cleaning {IE-cow, swat flies from body}
Ok, that’s a good start as to why animals have tails 😉
I think a better question is why do some humans have tails?
