She was probably carrying one of those “Get Bush Outta My Bush” signs.
A member of the audience pulls a demonstrator’s hair as he forces her out of an auditorium where President Bush (news - web sites) was addressing a crowd of supporters at Byers Choice in Colmar, Pa. Thursday Sept. 9, 2004. (AP Photo/Jacqueline Larma)

I dunno, I was watching the speech when that happened, and it happened twice. Some people just don’t know when to sit down and shut up.

The man was giving a speech! No, they don’t have a right to interrupt him. Its a matter of respect, seriously. How would you like it if you were interviewing for a new job, a very important job that means a lot to you, and some dumbass ran into the interview room and said that you sleep with little boys or something? You’d be pissed because you were trying to make a good impression to the company you’re applying for. (In this case, the boss is the American people who get to choose who gets the job.)
Seriously.

Exactly, and they do (and have done) the same to protesters at Kerry conventions…so don’t make this into a Bush vs Kerry thing…

Yup, I watched both party conventions and they had people getting hauled off for making a disturbance. People who have no respect == sux0r.

They have every right to protest as long as they aren’t breaking any laws. That’s what is so great about our country. What that old man did was wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. That’s like the girl on the University’s shuttle bus that slapped me across the face because I was talking to my boyfriend about the holes in our Fire Departments Bunker Gear because of the fire grant cuts that Bush has done to us. *sighs* I hate election years…

I didn’t have time. The shuttle driver stopped immediately and made her get off the bus. I was also wearing my President shirt for the organization I am the president of, so I didn’t really want to get into it with her wearing that…

While she may have the right to protest, does she have the right to disrespect the man’s speech like that? Like him or not, he also has the right to give his nomination acceptance speech. She has the right to protest, of course. But she should do it in a reasonable way. Standing up during his speech is not a reasonable way.
The Libertarian philosophy is that anything that doesn’t take away someone else’s God-given rights should be legal. If something I do doesn’t stop you from doing what you want to do, its legal, and once my actions interfere with your life then it becomes wrong. Her protesting DURING his speech interferes with his right to give the speech. She should not have done that. YES, the old man should not have grabbed her hair, because he interfered with her rights too… but don’t change the subject! The subject is that she was wrong, first.
Thats something I’ve noticed about liberals, they like to change the subject whenever the current subject doesn’t agree with them.
Regular person: “Did you see that girl who protested the speech?”
Liberal: “Did you see the man who grabbed her hair? He’s an ass!”
Regular person: “But she interrupted his spe…”
Liberal: “That man should go to jail! He pulled her hair!”

yeah, she’s got teh right to protest, but does she think screaming while the man is givin his speech is going to do anything? if i saw that, i’d think, “hrm, she’s a nut, get her out of there.” there’s a little thing called respect, and if you don’t give it, you won’t recieve it.
i’m not pro bush or kerry, i’m pro respect. you gotta give them both their opportunities to speak, and if you do something as immature as screaming and protesting during that man’s time, expect something as immature to happen to you.
meh, whatever, i hate politics, i dont even know why i’m posting here, lol.

So because I thought it was wrong I’m automatically a liberal? Way to label Tighr. I didn’t read that she stood up during his speech. The connection I’m on is being real touchy about what loads and what doesn’t. So how the hell would I know? I wouldn’t. I just won’t comment anymore if I’m gonna be labled like that. -_-

Look, I’m not trying to label you as a liberal. I was just saying this is a common leap most liberals that I know take (and yes, I know a bunch and am even friends with them, I dated one for two years). I don’t mean to label you.
But are you saying that you didn’t know she stood up during the speech? If so, why do you think the guy grabbed her hair? Was she just sitting in front of him, minding her own business, then this dude behind her just grabs a handful and yanks? Yes, I agree that what he did was wrong, and he should be ashamed for grabbing her hair like that, especially since he got caught big time with a picture. But his guilt should not take away from the fact that she did something bad, too. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but both are still wrong.
