I didn’t really want want…mainly because of the price tag, and the fact I don’t play handhelds too much—but damn, that thing is classy; I might just because of the 2 pictures have to purchase one…wow, that is sweet.
Actually, I think I read an interview with the current president of NOA, and he said that the DS was made specifically with portable gamers in mind. Its going to have long battery life, innovative games, and it will use as much processing power as it NEEDs. on the other hand, the PSP is just going to be a pretty toy. It wont have good battery life, and its really not an innovation in terms of games. The DS is supposed to be revolutionary.
They are actually comparable in terms of power, its just that the PSP will run off (easily scratchable) disks, and so it can hold much more data.

I’d expect the president of NOA to say those types of things. :|
The discs come in little diskette holders, to prevent scratching.
What he doesn’t tell you is how much more data it can hold: 1.8 gigs, versus 128 megs per DS cart (though some will be a little higher). Battery life will certainly be longer on DS, but again you’re not pushing as much polys, and the screen isn’t as bright either.

Haha, actually I was only paraphrasing him for his comments on the DS. He didn’t say anything about the PSP, those were my personal comments.
I am actually impressed with the PSP, and I’m very afraid that Nintendo will make the same mistake twic—thrice. First the N64, then the Gamecube (both of which I own) and then this. I’m afraid the system will be too kiddie and not enough bang for the mature crowd. Two of the best games for the N64 (and some would say on any system) were Goldeneye and Conker’s Bad Fur day. What game sold more copies? Pokemon. Its ludicrous! Nintendo is slapping us in the face. We’ve been with them since we were kids, and now we are older. Give us what we want, or Sony will.

I will be the last to say that the Gamecube sucks. I really wish I had the system, because it does have some incredible games. Metroid and Zelda alone would make it worth it. Nintendo knows how to design games for its own system, and that’s what people will get the DS for.
I haven’t seen anything truly killer from them yet, except maybe Metroid DS, but we’ll see. In fact, I will probably end up getting both systems. 😛
people are talking about prices and stuff, but what will they be?
im *assuming* that the psp will have a color screen (duh, the gamegear from sega all those years ago did 😛), but what will the specs be on the screen? how many pixels? what is the dimensions of the screen? the dimensions of the system? 1.8 gbs? like a quasi dvd…should be good on the graphical side, does anyone have any screenies of gameplay?
how much are games expected to be?
as long as we’re talking about the DS, can someone answer the same questions I just asked, but about the DS instead?
and for the love of peter (griffin), can we get some more pictures of the PSP and if possible, the DS? maybe even make another thread to talk about the DS?
ok..umm for the people who think the ds is more attractive..cmon     that thingy is classy..the ds is well..ive taken craps more attractive then the ds
i wanna see some proof that your crap looks better than the DS. ok, i’ve gone too far. but hey, if his crap really does look better than the DS, that’s some amazing shizz. literally. :D
