true artists aren’t in it for the money, they’re in it to make good music. sure, they need to live comfortably, but they get that through radio deals, tv deals, advertising, etc.  green day just released blank cds with their album art on them so u can pirate their music and make it look real.  that’s what all artists should do instead of being whiny bastards.

The way I see it, it’s the same as recording a song off a borrowed CD from a friend, or taping a song from the radio, only easier.

Listen, I dont agree with the law but you are duplicating or taking a broadcast and keeping it when legally its not yours because you paid nothing for it.

I don’t agree with the law but that doesnt allow me to break it.

I understand you not agreeing with the laws, and trying to make the point on what the law says regardless, but…you mean, we can’t tape TV shows and watch them either?  That’s a bit of a stretch.

In my mind, like I said, it’s the same as taping what’s given away, albeit in a different medium.  Now if radios were designed to not tape, or to broadcast only on a pay-per-listen basis, then maybe I could see it.

thats the big argument.  its technically illegal to record programs off tv, but nobody cares.  when vcrs first came out, however, there was the same debate as is going on with mp3s and stuff today.  eventually they will give up.

downloading is good if it hurts the industry.  the music industry has destroyed rock&roll; and i think its time they take a hit.
