The thing is if there was good hip-hop like Diverse, Non-Prophets, or Jurassic Five it would be different. When I was a kid, hip-hop was about social injustice and life on the streets, not about how much crap you owned and the bitches you screwed. It’s pathetic that people are so easily entertained by garbage instead of demanding more skill and artistry from musicians. I don’t even consider people like Nelly, Ludacris, etc. to be musicians or artists. At some point people just stopped caring about the social condition and just decided that they wanted to dance. Bring back Public Enemy!!
