Higher Output Density
Interest continues to rise in fuel cells offering higher output densities, as companies search for power solutions for a wide range of portable gear. One possibility is the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), which uses a ceramic solid electrolyte. The output density is significantly higher than that from the DMFC and other types, partly because of the high reaction temperature of about +1,000?C, which minimizes the resistance of the solid electrolyte.
