In response to Barbara’s topic “How does one start their own blogging site?”, I will be starting a guide which will show you how to make your own blog!  My goal is to help you learn how you can create a blog, optimize it for search engines, make revenue off of your blog, and tips for making it successful.

My first post in this topic will deal with choosing a name.  I will give you advice on how to come up with a name and explain how you can register a name for your blog.  Next I will focus on the different types of blogging platforms that are out there and help you decide which one is good for you.  After that I plan to go over how you can optimize your blog for search engines and get your website noticed.  I will wrap it up by a post which explains the different ways that you can earn revenue from your blog.

If anyone has any comment/suggestions please do post them before I start!  What would you like to see me write about regarding the creation of a blog?

Wow, this would be an incredibly useful series of posts!  I would say focus on free blog hosting because people are not going to want to spend money to start off a blog if this is their first time.  Maybe you can also talk about what sort of content attracts the most amount of people, and what content to avoid?  This is critical because you don’t want to offend or scare away your readers!

Do you still plan on having your series of posts on how to start your own blog and pull in revenue?  I would love to learn—I am thinking about starting a political blog since I love to talk about politics so much, and with politics being such a major part of our lives!

Yes, I hope to start it next week—or maybe the week after because my graduation ceremony is next week and a lot is going on.  I did make the first part of the tutorial but unfortunately it got deleted when the host restored the wrong backup at Gear Live, so I’ll need to redo the first part again!
