Ok everyone I need some help here—a lot of the laptops that are out on the market have Megabit ethernet (10/100) but do not have Gigabit ethernet (10/100/1000).  My college recommends that I have Gigabit ethernet, but am I really going to notice the difference?  Do I really need to spend the extra money just for Gigabit ethernet?

I would suggest you to save your hard earned money.Unless you have a Gigabit 1000Mbps internet connection, it doesn’t matter if you use a 10/100 or a 10/100/1000.You will get the same result unless you can upgrade to a Gigabit internet connection from the ISP.
