THQ has a press release and an updated website that announces the sequel to Saints Row. Some called Saints Row a GTA rip-off, and it was, but it did some things that Rockstar ought to have made note of like including a useful mini map with route guides and creating combat that was actually fun to engage. Saints Row 2 is looking a touch more realistic in the graphics department than the previous one, if judging from a handful of screenshots can be trusted at all. The story sounds like it may be a bit darker, too.

Also of note is that SR2 will be landing on PS3 this time around. Let’s just hope they leave in some of the awesome bugs.
