i refuse to get the ps3 for free online.

sony ive always been a fan of their products. their video game consoles kick ass.

i want to find out when i can start pre ordering the sony ps3.

I think you mean will you be able to play PS2 games on PS3 just like you were able to play PS1 games on PS2. And yes you will be able to do this. Ps3 is backwards compatible all the way back to PS1
