Well, for the post-college kid (depending on the family, usually 22+), the Momitsu v880n progressive scan 1080i DVD player

For mom: Roomba! great little vacuum, saves on the sweeping, doesn’t really replace the vacuum though

for the kids: Gameboy DS (also works for teenage snotnose brat who looks down his nose at everything mom and dad do)

for the college aged boy: the motorola Razr v3

for the college aged girl: pink ipod mini

for dad: dad’s kinda tough this year, though I’m sure he’d like the Alienware DHS 2.

For the lower budget shopper, Tokyoflash has some damn cool watches, a style for everyone!

also for the college boy, a PMP/PVP would be great, I actually recommend the NHJ MPM201, the handy thing being the tuner built into the base station

Now, I also know burberry has some nice ipod cases, for those fashion conscious shoppers and at $200 a pop, they’ll shut that whiney spoiled individual up for a while.

that’s my two cents 😊

I dont know if its fair to generalize age appropriate items. I really think it just depends on the person and not what age they are. I know 50 year olds who enjoy playing a video game or listening to mp3 players as they run. As far as gender is conserned, I would say that the women do love fashion and handbags whereas the men are more technical, but like I said, to each their own.

But despite what people want or dont want, receive or dont receive, I hope every one and their family and friends have a safe, healthy, and happy Holiday season.  😊

I think that there are various different gifts that all ages can enjoy.

Children:

A lot of children are into the Yu-gi-oh/Pokemon/Dragonball Z video games and toys.  You can bundle up a bunch of different starter packs for handheld consoles such as the Nintendo DS and the Gameboy Advanced.  These are affordable and will offer plenty hours of enjoyment.  You can also get children sports based toys.  It helps them get in shape and allows them to have a hobby which they can carry through middle and high school.  If your daughter is interested in Dora the Explorer/Telletubbies you can buy books from any bookstore.  These encourage your kids to read while letting them enjoy themselves.

Teens:

Teen gifts can range from $10 to $500.  Without a doubt, the most popular teen gifts are video games.  You can buy a console or a few games for around $200 and go from there.  A lot of popular games are now instock online and in Brick and Mortar (actual stores).  Some good gifts also include clothing and gift certificates to stores such as American Eagle and Abercrombie.

Tech-savvy teens:

If your son/daughter are into technology you can buy them a lot of things.  iPods are very popular and are easy to find (CompUSA/Bestbuy/Target/etc) in stores or online.  If you buy online, you can get free engraving to personalize your gift.  If your child enjoys computers, you can buy them parts (ask them what they want before you buy it!) or give them gift certificates to places such as Amazon.com.  A lot of stores such as BestBuy and Futureshop (Canada) have affordable gifts for the teen with the techy edge.

Adults:  Cell phone, Camera, Watches

Male Adults:  All males need a shaver.  There are new shavers from Braun which automatically clean themselves to achieve perfection when shaving.  They can range in price, but are not overly expensive.  If you’re buying for a techsavvy adult, an iPod or Laptop is perfect.  You can also buy DVD’s or even a DVD Player if they don’t have one already.

Female Adults:  A lot of females enjoy days at the spa, bath robes, and scented candles/oils.  You can pick these up at any beauty shop for relatively low prices.  A purse is always a necessity.  You can get nice purses from Burberry or Prada, but if they aren’t in your budget you can pick up something from WalMart which will do the exact same job.

I work at Best Buy so I know what people usually buy of all ages.

For People Who Own A XBOX
1.  Halo 2
2.  Need For Speed:  Underground 2
3.  Burnout 3

For People Who Own A PS2
1.  Grand Theft Auto:  San Andreas
2.  Need For Speed:  Underground 2
3.  Dragonball Z:  Buodaki 3 (Yes for kids, but a BIG seller)
4.  Metal Gear Solid 3

For People Who Own a Gamecube
1.  Mario Tennis
2.  Super Monkey Ball 2
3.  Mario Kart

For People Who Own a Nintendo DS
1.  Mario 64
2.  Spiderman 2
3.  Sims Urbz

For People Who Own a Gameboy Advance SP
1.  Donkey Kong Country 2
2.  Pokemon (All Versions “Leaf Green, Saphire, etc”)
3.  Spongebob Squarepants:  The Movie”

Most of these games support multiplayer, so I would also suggest getting wireless controllers from Logitech for the PS2/Xbox and Nintendo’s own Gamecube Wireless Controller.  People can play from their systems up to thirty feet with barely any lag.  I actually own all three and love them to death.

Don’t forget Dance Dance Revolution - A game where everyone loves to crowd around in the arcades.  Get the DDR Ignition Pads for the best results in your game.  There’s DDR Extreme, DDR Max, DDR Max 2 (for PS2) and DDR Ultra Mix, DDR Ultra Mix 2 (for XBOX).  Gamecube has their own seperate version where you have to buy the pad and the game in the same box.  REALLY good/fun present to give.

Gift Cards are always a great seller and gift for someone you don’t know what the heck to get.

For People That Like To Exercise
Get them the new iRiver N10 series.

iPod’s are great MP3 players but are so easy to scratch.  Not only is this a NICE looking flash MP3 player, it boasts over 40 hrs of battery life.  Not bad compared to the 12 hr iPod battery.  This is a great present for someone that likes to exercise so they can listen to music at the same time.

For Rap Music Lovers
1.  Eminem - Encore
2.  Lil Jon - Crunk Juice
3.  Jay-Z/Linkin Park - Collision Course

For Pop Music Lovers
1.  Gwen Stefani - Love, Angel, Music, Baby
2.  Clay Aiken - Merry Christmas With Love

For Rock Music Lovers
1.  U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
2.  Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway

For Country Music Lovers
1.  Shania Twain - Greatest Hits
2.  Toby Keith - Greatest Hits 2
3.  Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying

For R&B Music Lovers
1.  Usher - Confessions
2.  Destiny’s Child - Destiny Fulfilled
3.  Nelly - Suit/Sweat

DVD Lovers
1.  Spiderman 2
2.  Bourne Supremacy
3.  Dodgeball

I work in the Media Department at Best Buy, so I know these are the best hits.

For Digital Camera Lovers
Canon SD20

A GREAT, tiny camera that many people will drool over.  This camera is actually hard to find in stores, but you can find it on several different websites.  I actually own the older version of this camera, the SD10, and many people adore it.  It’s a great little 5 Megapixel Camera

D-Skin

Protect the sensitive side of the disc with the D-Skin.  You can leave the cover on all the time, even when you play the disc!  http://www.d-skin.com

H2O Audio SV-iPod

A watertight case that keeps your iPod dry even in the pool.  Also comes with headphones while submerged.  http://www.h2oaudio.com

Computers for Kids

Children who love Mickey Mouse would love their own PC/Printer/Keyboard/Mouce/etc.  Includes even a pen for drawing.  http://www.disneydirect.com

Computers for the “Hip”

Almost every visual element on this baby can be customized.  You can also add an optional MP3 player and a prepaid cell phone, too.  http://www.hip-e.com

OK Gearlive, You asked for it. Here is the ULtimate tech list.

I have also supplied pictures because frankly, words alone don’t do justic.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Professionals:
Samsung M400 or Palmone Tungsten T5
Stocking Stuffers: Garmin PDA/GPS, Leather Executive chair with built in massager
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gamer: Alienware 51m laptop

Alienware ALX
A little overpriced but of course the liquid cooled, 4ghz, 2gig corsair XMS, 10000 rpm sata raid 0.. ddr3 6800 ultra videocard… droool

Stocking Stuffer (also good for the professionals):

Description:
One of the most irritating aspects about trying to sleep on a plane is the noise from the engines, as well as from other passengers and the crew bustling around. The new Bose QuietComfort2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones can practically silence the roar of a plane’s engine and fold flat for easy portability. They’re also ideal for trying to block out sound on trains and in the office. The headphones can be plugged into iPods and portable DVD players. The headphones retail for $299.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
College Student:
Sager 9860 laptop with PCI-E Videocard
Palmone Tungsten T3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Teens:

http://www.sony.com/qualia

Description:
About the size of your thumb, this digital camera from Sony’s insanely expensive Qualia luxury electronics division is barely bigger than the Memory Stick Duo media that it uses to store photos. It is as light as it is small, weighing only 2.01 ounces, yet its magnesium-alloy chassis feels substantial and rugged. But the Qualia 016’s small size has its drawbacks. Many features that are integrated into other digital cameras are relegated with the Qualia to its briefcase worth of accessories—there’s no zoom, but there are wide-angle and telephoto lens attachments; what’s more, the tiny screen necessitates a clip-on magnifier; and no flash is integrated into the main unit, so it snaps onto the side instead. And then there’s that price: almost four large for a two-megapixel camera. You could buy 12 five-megapixel Canon A95s for that price. But the Qualia selling proposition requires you to dispense with those sorts of equivalencies. The point is to have a super small, highly stylized piece of electronics, and by those measures, the Qualia delivers.

how small is small?

Stocking stuffers: Ipod, Alpine CDA9830 Head unit if they have a car,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Women:
Description:
The Dyson’s main selling point is that it doesn’t lose suction over time. James Dyson, inventor of this sleek-looking, English-made, purple upright, realized that vacuum bags get clogged by dust particles, reducing sucking power, so he tossed the bags and replaced them with seven cones that create 1,000 Gs of force each, essentially keeping the dust pinned to the side and out of the way. You can see the larger dirt being whipped around the side of the clear main canister.
OR how about this? It’s the size of a case of LIPSTICK!!!!
Description:
Cellular phones have managed to shrink down admirably over the past 20 or so years. The upcoming Nokia 7280 (scheduled to arrive on our shores early next year) certainly pushes that boundary somewhat. About the size and shape of a tube of lipstick and weighing in at less than three ounces, the 7280 doesn’t even have a conventional keypad. It relies instead on an iPod-style jogdial that lets you dial in numbers or choose from your address book. It is remarkably feature-rich for something so small; it integrates a VGA camera, color display, voice-recognition and Bluetooth and infrared wireless functionality (perhaps the most effective way of entering numbers into your address book with this baby) into its sleek shape. That said, it may well be too small for some people: As handy as it is to have something so tiny tucked away in a suit pocket or evening bag, you can imagine how frustrating it would be to search for this ringing tidbit in a full backpack.
http://www.nokia.com
Stocking stuffers include: Canon SD200 digital camera, Ipod mini
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Men:  Sony Digital Camcorder SC-D6040

Description:
Many digital camcorders can take digital still photos, but only the DuoCam goes through the trouble of adding a second lens for that purpose. Yes, this is quite literally two cameras in one: A mini-DV video camera with a 10x optical zoom and a 4.1-megapixel still camera with a 3x optical zoom and built-in auto flash. All of the expected bells and whistles are present, including night mode, image stabilization and a swiveling LCD screen. Plus, the DuoCam can record video clips in the highly compressed MPEG-4 format, which makes it easy to transfer (via a MemoryStick card) and store on your computer. If you already have a good digital still camera, the DuoCam may seem like an unnecessary extravagance, but if you’re looking for a compact and easy way to shoot two birds with one camera, so to speak, the DuoCam is for you. http://www.samsungusa.com

Or how about one of these

Samsung 63’’ plasma tv (link here)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kids: PSP, Nintendo DS, Xbox, PS2 slim with their favorate game.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whole family to cherish those moments together:

Can a machine this small actually record respectable video? The answer, surprisingly, is yes. The SV-AV100 D-snap is capable of recording DVD-quality video onto its included 512MB SD memory card. Unfortunately, it is only able to record around 10 minutes of video at the highest resolution, so if you want to film longer, you either need a bunch of really expensive, very high-capacity memory cards, or you need to scale the D-snap down to MPEG-4 video, which has a greater rate of compression that allows it to store from one to ten hours of video. To be sure, the SV-AV100 is a bit of a novelty (and a pricey one at that), but it’s tiny, it weighs a third of a pound, it has a 10x optical zoom as well as a very cool free-rotating 2.5-inch LCD screen and it can record high-quality video, albeit briefly, like the big boys do. http://www.panasonic.com

OR

Most video cameras capture images on a single chip called a charged-coupled device (CCD), which is sensitive to light. The Panasonic PV-GS120 belongs to a new generation of consumer camcorders that adopt a three-CCD technology from professional video cameras. Three CCDs means that each color—red, green and blue—gets its own processing chip, which results in richer color saturation on your videos. Until recently, it was inconceivable to get this technology on any video camera under $1,000, but the PV-GS120 shatters that price barrier. There are more expensive models from Panasonic and other companies that have higher-megapixel integrated still cameras (the PV-GS120 only has 1.2 megapixels), which is a nice touch, but we like the way the PV-GS120 makes the triple-chip advanced color processing affordable and compact. Plus, there are plenty of nice features and goodies, such as a microphone that zooms in and focuses the audio as you zoom in the picture, as well as an image stabilizer and a low-light mode. http://www.panasonic.com

Stay tuned. I will keep updated throughout the week.

I’m gonna say the Motorola Razr phone.  That thing looks awesome.

I also agree with “bobaloba” and say the d_skin ( http://www.d-skin.com )  They work so well, but I really don’t use CD’s a whole lot.  I use them for my video games and stuff.  Works great!
