Howard Stern / Sirius Rally

Just got back from the Howard Stern / Sirius Rally at Union Square. A massive crowd gathered to see Howard, and to pick up their free Sirius Satellite Radios (500 were available) and 20,000 vouchers for free Sirius systems (when you prepay for a one-year subscription).

If you couldn’t make it, no problem - just go to http://www.sirius.com/offer/sternrally and enter in promotion code 263. Select your Sirius system and purchase an annual subscription for $142.25. When prompted, enter in the certificate number HS7436 in the “referral ID” field.

The free system is the Audiovox SIR-PNP2. The offer expires on November 24th, 2004 - so if you want it, get it now.

[quote author=“HowardStern.com”]Join Howard at 12 noon on Thursday, November 18th, at Union Square in New York City to see what he’s thankful for this year. Howard is in a giving mood, so be sure to get there early if you want your “gift.”

Ok, so this is honestly killing me that I can’t go since I will be working (15 blocks away but my boss is a jerk and won’t let me).  Can someone PLEASE go and try and get two?  I will pay for shipping to me or meet you somewhere to pick it up.

Speculation is that the “gift” is a Sirius receiver.

Seriously, if anyone in NYC is going to this, can you do everything in your power to pick one of these up for me?  All I ask is to either get one for me and for you or one for you and allow me to have it.  Karma is important, just look at gearliveqt.com.

Any help would be really appreciated.  I am honestly pissed I can’t go.

damn.

No can do, my boss is an ass and only allows a certain amount of sick days and I was already legitimately sick last week.

The gift is a surprise but everyone is assuming its a Sirius Satellite Radio Receiver.

Damnit…I am going to have to pay for one and this would be for free.  I really really want it and need to get it however I can.

Please…anyone want to help?

no one really comes over here at this time. You would be better posting it at free stuff. It is technically free.

Nah, its not really free since I am asking the person for the item they are going to be getting.

Also, I hope people find this early in the morning since (as you said) it is very late right now.

C’mon Hector, help me out!

well he announced this morning that he has 20,000 items to give away so there is definitely a huge chance of actually getting something.

Come on JMillion, please get me one?  If you aren’t willing to part with the one you will get, can you try everything to get two?

Sure, I’ll go for you. Lemme book a flight and fly over there right now. I’ll have to spend the weekend at a hotel. You said you’ll cover all expenses, right ?

Of course I DIDN’T say that.

Anyone out there willing to help me out on their lunch break?

He was promoting the hell out of it on his show today!

Doug, you can probably go over to SBS and ask some folks there.

Here’s more talk about it.

Hmm, Sirius ... sounds tempting ... but what I don’t like is that it used the FM modulator. And we all know how reliabe that is .... look at the itrip .... I’d rather have a sirius ready head-unit with a tuner ... with a discount 😉

The receiver they are giving away (the Audiovox) from the reviews I read is a piece of crap and not worth the time.

Wait like me for SIRIUS to release a portable on the go player like XM is about to that way you have one device for car, home, and walking the streets for one price instead of each piece a la carte.

The best Sirius pnp unit out there is the Clarion.  PERIOD.  Followed by the Sportster and then whatever others there are that just came out.  I agree that the Audiovox pnp2 is a piece of crap.  ANYTHING from Audiovox is a piece of crap.  The whole thing feels like it’s going to fall apart and its obvious that it’s made using the cheapest POS parts and plastics they can find.

Now, the only thing that few people don’t like about the Clarion is that this pnp has the smallest screen of the bunch.  But still, I’d rather have a small screen than some POS hardware that’ll break within a few weeks.  Also, the way they use the orange text on black background on the audiovox is terrible.  Get’s washed out so easily when it gets very hot.  Not to mention the Audiovox is gigantic as hell.  Yuck.

Some cars who have a stock stereo setup might have an AUX in.  You’d just have to buy the AUX adaptor and then hook up the Sirius plug and play directly that way you don’t have to use the FM mod crap.  That’s how it is in my truck.  I have a Pioneer deck with AUX in, and but the AUX cable and hooked it up directly to my Sirius unit.  Sounds awesome.  The funny thing about my Pioneer deck is that it says “XM Ready” and yet I’m using Sirius :mischeif:
