Right now I’m running two workstations in my office to edit some footage of my wife’s nephew’s funeral for distribution to his friends and family. Let me tell you, having images of that poor kid in a casket up on two monitors while I surf and drink beer is disturbing to say the least!  :o

PS - I need a dual processor machine and another gig of ram at least.

Hey, the beer is actually helping! I just never thought I’d see that box again after they lowered it into the ground…

And you know, you can’t have enough RAM doing work like this. My computer is a hog with a 3ghz P4 and a 1GB of RAM. My wife has a 2.4ghz AMD Athlon XP and 512MB of RAM. Time estimated for my computer to convert a 1GB file - 5 hours. Her computer? 18 hours!!! I guess Hyperthreading could help too, but I’m guessing it’s mostly RAM.  I’m just waiting for an Apple person to pipe in about the G5…  😉

i don’t mean to pry.. but why exactly are you making a video of this? That seems a bit morbid.. I mean, why would you want to watch that more than once?  Not trying to be mean, I’m really sorry for your loss.. I just don’t understand really

Me neither!  The church made a video of the funeral and the Army made a video of the memorial they had for him, and his parents was both on DVD.  Frankly,  I wouldn’t want watch something like this AGAIN if it were my child, but that’s what they want.  Weird…  :?
