Oh it was more beautiful than I thought, both the DS itself and Metroid

I want it right now and…

When I went to preorder it a month ago, everywhere told me don’t bother because they won’t even be able to fulfill the preorders they all took because Nintendo underestimated the demand for the item and will only be able to provide 50% of the preorders taken so…

I am now on the phone with every videogame retailer in the tri state area seeing if I can get one tonight at midnight without a preorder.

I expect to fail in this but its worth a shot.

Bottom line:

I NEED A NINTENDO DS ASAP!!!

oh my…

just oh my…

now if you excuse me, I don’t plan on getting any sleep tonight

and as far as the Treo 650 goes, its ordered and I am waiting shipment.  It was only $350 ($250 off the retail price since I have a plan already with Sprint).  I expect it before christmas and having my DS and Treo 650…say goodbye to me!

I picked mine up today too.  I’m liking it very much.  I also picked up Mario 64 DS and Spider-man 2.  Spider-man has some collision detection issues when fighting, but still fun and the animation is very smooth.

Man, sweet. Doug, take some pics of it in action, while you’re playing. I wanna see how good the graphics are in real life.

I just got a chance to play it at work.  Friend brought it in.  Meh.

The top portion of the unit (on the hinge) is heavier than the lower one.  With the D-pad location, it gives you some serious hand cramps.  This is the case for Metroid Prime anyways, because you use the D-pad and the L-button (for shooting), and you need your right hand for the touch screen, which puts the weight of the system and your right hand on your left hand.

I didn’t have the thumbstrap though.  Still, using my thumb, it’s not a long-enough reach on the touch screen to quickly turn.  That’s why IGN was saying they need to make it so that you can adjust touch sensitivity.

Oh and the Stylus is almost half the size of my Palm’s stylus, and the on-screen keyboard for typing has smaller keys than what’s on my Palm.  Combined, typing is a much harder affair.  :|

I never really was hyped about these portable consoles, but I have yet to try one so I shall not comment. 😊
