[quote author=“Andreux”][quote author=“antman22”]ya, my life is pretty much the total opposite. i wasn’t a millitary child, i have stayed in dallas my whole life. i have friends that ive gone through elementary/jr.high/high school with, so they’re pretty much family. most of my friend’s parents wouldn’t of fed me as much as they have if i wasn’t, lol.
See, people like me envy you. :( I haven’t held a friend for more than three or four years. I’m just used to the change. It gets boring for me after a while. LOL
The friends I’ve kept from high school I’ve had since junior high. In fact tomorrow night I’m heading to a wedding rehearsal for a guy I was friends with in junior high. And in 7th grade his twin brother used to attack me with his arm cast! I was in his wedding too… 😊

Today has been a pretty good day. Have you guys ever gotten together with old school chums, and just chilled, chat about old times? I’m fortunate enough that i kept in contact wiht a lot of my HS friends, and most of them are starting to graduate so some are finding jobs here in dallas. Well anyway, some of my friends from high school got together today, and just spent hours talking about ol days in high school and all teh stupid stuff we did, and all the dumb drama that happened. all of it is just hilarious now. non-stop laughter for hours.
sometimes its just nice to chill, and look back on things. I’ve been so busy and everything’s been hectic, so tonight was a really great break from everything.
I have no clue why I wrote this. I just felt like telling the world about my day, lol. I guess it should of gone in my blog….
Hope everyone had a wonderful day, and if you didn’t, hope tomorrow is better :D

I only get to see most of my HS friends around Christmas. Some I only see maybe twice a year but when we get together it’s like we never left. Good times indeed. I’m lucky enought that I talk to a friend of mine from HS everyday. I might end up in Chicago after graduation and so are a couple of my friends.

You guys are so lucky, and I hope you feel that way. My HS friends are long gone from my life now. We got into a stupid argument, and now we don’t talk to each other anymore. I blame myself for letting my pride determine my relationship with friends I’ve had for a while, and now I don’t know what they’re doing.
Like I said, I hope you guys feel lucky. It must be nice to have them 😊 And for those people that might get into arguments with old friends and let it decide everything, think twice!! Don’t let something silly ruin a good relationship!

I feel the same… I don’t talk to any of my high school friends anymore. I have one good friend that I’ve kept in touch with, and friends from when I lived in alabma. But other than that… high school is not where you make your life long friends.

Tighr, I don’t know if i necessarily agree with that last statement you made. Now maybe I just might be an odd case, cuz some of my college friends find it odd that I still keep in contact with my high school friends. Anyway, I think a lot of my friends that I will continue to have a relationship with will be from high school as well as college. As Andreux said, I am lucky, extremely lucky. I was fortunate enough to have a large(25-30) group of friends in high school that were extremely close knit. Ya, someone’s gonna say “how can you be close knit with that many people?!?” It was, and still is. For the most part, we’ve managed to keep in close contact with each other throughout college, and college is usually when those relationships start fading away. I think it did help that a good number of them decided to stay in Texas for college, which made it easier to stay in contact, it was only a 3-6 hr drive to see most of my friends. In addition, whenever they’d come back into Dallas, we’d always hang out. Then for those out of state, there’s always the beauty of instant messaging/email, which I think our generation is lucky to have, cuz it allows us to keep in touch with people in a easy, and really important, FREE, manner.
Like I said before, maybe i’m an odd case. I can’t complain though, I’ve managed to be lucky enough to even remain friends with people I’ve known since elementary school, hell, my best friend I’ve known since we were 4. As for friends in college, I’ve made some pretty good friends, none that I can say are as close as my high school friends, yet. I’m sure those will develop into great relationships as well.

You’re post reminded me of that Bruce Springsteen song “Glory Days”. :D
I have a small core of friends from high school, the majority I haven’t spoken with for years. One of my good friends from high school is my ex-wife! She lives a few streets away and I see her a few times every week. Our divorce was very amicable and we get along pretty well.
Funny story - I was dropping my daughter off there a few weeks ago and there were some people there I knew casually from high school. I said “Hi” and chatted a while. Later she told me after I left one of them looked over at her and said “Yeah, wasn’t he that kid that was really smart and REALLY bad?” LOL!

I dunno, Mr. Antman—I’ve heard that phrase where you meet your lifelong friends in college. I thought it was typical that everyone moved on or something when they reached this stage in our lives…? :?

HAHA, that was *so* me too. But I was bad in the quiet way  That’s how all the smart kids in school were. We all reaped off the regular kids’ stupidity 😛

I was smart (gifted classes, national honor society, etc), but I was probably the worst kid in the school too. If the vice principle would piss me off I would sneak up to his office window under cover of night and place homemade explosives! Yeah, the sort of evil I was into back then is several levels beyond what a lot of people ever do… :o

Oh yeah—see, we were just bullies back then. The really conniving bullies ‘cause we liked to think we were so much better and “above” all the other kids. You were a really bad one though. I commend you. 😛

I could tell stories you probably wouldn’t believe. Deep down I was a good person, and volunteered with the Red Cross and the Boyscouts, but I went through a period where I was a crazy teenager.
For example, another time my friends and I snuck up to the high school several hours before school began and squirted liquid nail into all of the door locks. When we returned at the start of school all of the buses were sitting there full of kids while the principle and maintenance men walked around the building trying to figure out a way in! Eventually they broke one of the doors…

Mad, not surprised, and a little proud. 😉 Her Mom was a hell raiser too, and I’m sure she has stories of her own… We were just too much alike, that’s why we couldn’t live together.

I’ve gotten this from people, they assume that cuz i keep in contact with friends from high school, that i havne’t moved on. trust me, i have. i have plenty of college friends. the great thing, is that a lot of my college friends have become friends with my high school friends. i’ve got a weird web of friends now, lol.
what i wasn’t aware of is that just cuz you are in college, you’re supposed to ditch your high school friends. Ya, I’ve lost contact with some of them, which naturally just happens sometimes, but I didn’t know I had to “move on” past good friends. am i supposed to ditch my college friends when i graduate and go find a job? i figured i’d continue to stay friends with them as i have with my high school friends…. :?

I dunno… I guess I figured if I’m not friends with my elementary school friends, why stay friends with my high school friends? If I’m not friends with my middle school friends, again, why stay friends with my high school friends? But I’m REALLY bad with friends, so don’t take my advice. LOL I go through friends like phases/cycles. I think it upsets a lot of my old friends. Nah, I’m pretty sure it does, but it’s ‘cause I grew up with the military—everyone moved within two to three years of becoming your friend. You couldn’t keep the same friends all the time. You were always losing old friends and gaining a crapload of new friends. It was so hard to keep up!

hahaha…see, that was one good thing about keeping my high school friends, cuz they all changed in some way or another in the past 4 years, and its great to see taht change. when we were in high school, we didn’t drink or get crazy all that much, so now when we get ripped or go to parties together, its a riot seeing some people that were total goody goodies in high school doin some well, not so goody goody things, lol. hell, my best friend of 18 yrs, he didn’t start drinking til about a year ago, and WOW, that was prolly the funniest thing. it was like night and day.calm conservative guy turned into crazy womanizer. i was there the first time he got ripped, and i think he hit on more girls in 5 minutes than he had in his whole life.
