I bought the Fujitsu notebook new in April 2004. When I run some programs the notebook is getting very hot in its left part. Worst of all, the painting on its surface became darker and it looked like dirt. I contacted the company, they inspected the notebook and told me that this problem can not be solved, it is just like it. I think that I am cheated by Fujitsu-Siemens.
THE KEYBOARD! for some reason the smart engineers at fujitsu decided to squash the , . and / keys into something 3/4 their width. the result? normal typers will end up almost always hitting / instead of a period. so sentences will end like this/ and it’s something ridiculously retarded to “get used to” on a laptop. they should have made the shift key smaller, because i use punctuation one hell of a lot more than the shift key.
I was very impressed by the spec and placed my order straight away, but the Lifebook hasn’t lived up to expectations and, I’m afraid to say, has already been relegated to the drawer. Power users will find that the machine really isn’t up to running Linux—hardware support is sketchy, with the built-in modem flat out refusing to work and the display is somewhat distorted—really not what you expect after shelling out this much for a laptop. Buyers beware, this machine could become an expensive mistake—be sure to check for compatibility with your OS before ordering!
I can’t help it. I just have a gift. I learned what it meant in french long ago, and its the first half of my last name. I must be 8) with a name like that. (Me hopes so)
is all this pertaining to my model of notebook? i’ll take it all into consideration though, i’ll be playing with it for the next week or so to see if i like it.
i havne’t noticed any heat issues, it doesn’t get that warm, and i had it on my lap for about 45min-1hr when i was messin with it.
i’m not having a problem with keyboard so far.
built in modem, used it, works fine. as for the wifi, i’ll find that out tomorrow when i use it at school.
the display is crisp, its the crystal view, i compared it to the xbrite, and it was just as good. so far, so good, but if stuff starts actin up in the next couple weeks, i’m sendin it back.
if i do have to get it repaired, my friend’s dad, who works at a computer firm that’s partnered with fujitsu, can send it in for repairs…and they treat corporate a lil better than normal consumers, i’ve already heard that cust support isn’t amazing…i also have the option of going back to fry’s and they’ll either fix it or replace it, and they’ll give me a loaner laptop to use in the meantime.
lol, sorry to hear that mr. andreux…well, i’ve got a desktop also(this laptop def isn’t a desktop replacement), this is more or less for school. i was getting kinda sick of being in class, and seeing the profs basically do huge projects right there in class. kids with laptops were having a breeze, copying the formulas and code. one of my profs even said “well, for this project, if you got a laptop, you’ve got a leg up”...i tried keeping up with pen and paper, but it wasn’t cuttin it, and he wouldn’t even post the stuff he did in class online or give us scribblers time to write any of it down. its time to make my life a lil easier, and i figured the laptop would do that…unless it blows up, then we got a problem.

no, i never had a 700m, I still have the fujitsu, and its working just dandy.
I guess I find it funny that someone brought this thread back up from teh dead, considering I just made another purchase. A Nikon d70 digital SLR camera with two nikkor lenses. cost me almost as much as my laptop haha.
Reason for buying it? Im going on a road trip to the grand canyon, yosimite nat’l park, then finishing up in the OC to visit family. I want to take superb pics, and I figure this will be able to do that. I will have a 1 gig card to load up the pics, but I’l have my laptop as well, which will provide extra space to plop pics on.
so yes, im poor once again. ah well, i’ll have fun toys to play with 😊
