[quote author=“rgriffy”]Well atleast the guy is alright. I wouldn’t expect the mysterious cowdog thing to live.
LOL! I love the wording 😛
I once hit this rabbit…and after I hit it, it wasn’t completely dead…SO, I had to stop, go back, and ....finish him. I had flip flops on, and it totally bruised the hollow of my foot when I tried to make it ender quicker for the lil’ guy….Man that hurt my foot 😢 And to make it worse, it wasn’t working…last stomp did him in though (only three, don’t think I was pretending I was at a rock concert)...then my friend dug shallow grave with his foot and we said a few words…
Hit em? Swerve? Get out and shoo them across? Or just stop ‘till they pass?
I try and do anything possible to not hit them. Sometimes that’s not an option :( I even stop for toads, snakes, and anything else 😛 Tonight I saw a baby rattlesnake, so I got out and headed the lil’ guy (couldn’t have been more than 9 inches long) back in the direction he came from. He was going way too slow, and unfortunately was in the most popular lane of traffic (the right turn lane out of my neighborhood). I should’a caught him…but I when I came back he was gone :(
Anybody else have a certain affinity for animals? Ever pick up animals that are doomed to get killed by other drivers and keep them as pets?
I nailed a hummingbird once. I slowed down but the damn thing didn’t move so I figure it had it coming. Whenever I hit something with my car I like to lean out of the window and yell, “NATURAL SELECTION BITCH!”

HAHAH, I am going to say that the next time I hear of an animal dying or something =P I’m gonna be so crude Haha
I try to stop, but damn, i swear some of them want to be hit. I saw a squirrel just sit there and wait for me to get in the zone of no return before he darted out.
We got jack rabbits too, that are freaking psycho, they somehow dart, sit under your car, and dart across the street. These animals need to stop it with teh extreme sports, car dodging is not a gravity game.
Oh ya, when in TX, beware of armadillos. If you’re out on the road, i’d suggest going around them, don’t straddle them. they have such bad reaction that they won’t realize what the heck is goin on until they’re under your car…and what is their reaction? to jump up and roll into a ball….and they’ll jump high enough to catch the bottom of your car and explode. kinda like what samus does when he jumps and rolls into a bomb, only with more blood and guts.
Absolutely not. If there’s an animal in front of me, you better the hell out of my way because my ass is coming and I ain’t slowing down or moving to go around you. My silverado is going to pound your ass flat.
So far I’ve killed a quite a few squirrels and birds while driving my truck and one with the camaro. heh
I am such an animal lover. I would rather get rear-ended than kill an animal. That is how I got 3 of my animals.. All rescues from the side of the road. It makes me cry when I see them on the freeway or killed on the side of the road.
I have to drive between Omaha and Kirksville (Northeast Missouri) a lot so I’m always afraid of hitting a deer. I think I’d be alright since I have a ‘94 town & country but it would suck. The best thing to do if you can’t stop is just to hit the accelerator, otherwise the deer might roll up on your hood and kill your ass. Damn bambi needs to move out of the way.
I do what I can to avoid hitting an animal, but I have had a car totalled by a deer once—it came running out of a field, and broadsided by car—bent the frame and forced me off the road—hard to imagine that a deer could cause that much damage.
I usually do what I can do avoid animals on the road. About a month ago I was driving with my friend in the car and I saw a couple bunnies in the road. I sped up toward them as a joke, one ran and got out of the way the other went under the car. We looked back, it made it out alive. I guess it ducked. lol
