as evident in mario 64 ds (check out the gamespot review), analog input is a 3-D gamer’s necessity!! .
The PSP does have an analogue pad. Nintendo needs to put more than a couple good 1st party games into its consoles. Especially re-hashes.

[quote author=“DaySeven”]however the ds’s touch screen (on ridge racer) shows a virtual wheel that you steer with. ridge racer itself isnt that great of a game from what i hear, but i cant wait to see nintendo and its developers optimize the control of the touch screen. I hate that damn touch screen, its worthless. I rather have any other type of control.

Which do you mean? If you mean the PSP, yes, it sold 200,000 on its first day possibly more.
And if you meant rhe DS it is sold out everywhere.

Well as you can imagine it’s doing worse than the DS so far in Japan alone but Nintendo has been around for quite some time and on the first day of the PSP it sold about half the DS numbers, quite impressive if you ask me. Who knows how this handheld war will go down… lets just hope Microsoft doesn’t barge in on this one.

alright nice, that seems to clear things up a bit, at least for me
the screen is indeed beautiful…
lol now if only they could squeezer a mini hard drive in there, or offer it externally, thatd make it an instant buy for me :D
otherwise, the video player aspect doesnt seem like much of a feature (considering single memory stick is the medium)
the psp definitely has potential, as well as the ds….im holding out for both, by summer 05 (or any price drops) ill probably make my humble decision, most likely depending on the selection AND, more importantly, quality of the games

Are you kidding? The Movie playback is one of the hottest reasons to own this. A 1GB Memory Stick Duo can hold about 200 minutes of MP4 video at highest quality, and 400 minutes at medium quality. I’m going to be burning DVD’s to the stick and watching them all the time.
Oh, and before you ask. 1GB Duos can be found now for $149 , and they will be even cheaper once the PSP hits here by March.

well the mp4 movies i have are ~700 mb (res: ~600 x ~300; almost no loss of quality).
putting one of these movies on the stick will consume almost all the provided memory.
...now that i think of it, the psp resolution is obviously smaller than that of a pc moniter’s, maybe re-encoding to a lower res (that of the psp’s) would help this… lol nice pic rid 😛

Screen: 4.3 inch, 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD
480 x 272 pixel (16.77 million colors)
Max. 200 cd/m2 (with brightness control)
So yeah, you’re going to get more mileage at that resolution. Like I said, maybe 200 minutes at max quality will fit on one GB, 400 minutes a medium. It’s not for permanent movie storage, really. You view the film once, and you erase to pop in a new one.
Can you tell us what software you used to rip your DVD to MP4? If you’d rather PM me the details, you can do that too. :-*

Not yet. Announcements are expected shortly after the new year though.
