By March 2005. Could be earlier. Yes, Japan it’s already out.

...versus 128 megs per DS cart…
Playing Devil’s Advocate… it was stated that the DS cards hold upwards of 1 gb…
I still want the PSP more unless I hear of crap battery life.

Well that just gives the DS no chance at all. It looks so dull compared to the PSP (even with the glare on the screen!)

4 to 6 hours for games and 4 to 5 hours for movies.
Not great but not too bad. You can also buy extra battery packs, but I’d hold off one with with greater capacity comes out. Unless I commuted 2 hours a day or something.

Dear lonely DS guy:
Its maybe because they are enjoying the much better, more capable, PSP. I suggest you get off your ass and buy one right now.
Sincerely,
Ignacio

sure, the psp looks SWEET (sleek, bright screen, high res for portables, cool cds, and “better graphics”). but i think we’re missing something here.
as evident in mario 64 ds (check out the gamespot review), analog input is a 3-D gamer’s necessity!! the ds has (again referencing mario64 ds impressions) a little less intuitive replacement of n64’s/gcn’s analog sticks, which is of course the touch screen. makes me sick when people question the use of a second screen. it’s a touch screen people! after some tweaks from the psuedo-analog touch screen, this is revolutionary!!
also, i hope you all realize that you are buying a gaming system, not a computer! i hear alot of people argue that the psp is more more powerful and has better graphics, supported by links to the tech specs of the psp. nintendo seems to tweak the hell out of their hardware, in order to get more price-efficient internals, while yielding superb performance for less battery comsumption. sure the psp looks better than the ds in some games, but it goes back and forth really, depending on what games you compare…i dont see the better graphics much of an argument at this point. also, it plays videos…from a memory stick though….i dont see much of an advantage at this point, even if you had a 1gb stick, wont store that many divx movies (even after assuming theyre compressed to the psp’s resolution). if youre like me and buy gaming consoles for their GAMING capabilities, then i would suggest getting a ds, or, much smarter, buy both (if youre rich), or wait till next summer to see the two battle it out and pick a fair verdict then.

[quote author=“HectorGearLive”]Yeah I know I’m being hard on the DS. But just lookit the announced games (and release dates) for PSP . Maybe Nintendo is just holding out for their next Gameboy, since DS is really “third pillar” hardware, like the Virtual Boy was.
as for game availability, you would assume the playstation will have ten times the amount of available games, thanks to the bigger cousin, ps2
i checked out that list, pretty damn big, ill give that to ya, but i dont see that many games id really be interested in (ff7, metal gear, nfs, viewtiful joe). this is all subjective, but it seems to me that nintendo will bring so many more games that grab my interest. then again, i grew up on nintendo, so i can look past the “kiddie” factor that almost everyone complains about.
lets assume the psp does make some really nice (looking 😉) games. whats a good 3-D game without the proper controls to fully enjoy it? maybe im being i little stickler on this, but i think that in a 3-D game, youre gonna need to move in more than eight directions offered with the d-pad. steering in cars will be alot harder to harness as well. however the ds’s touch screen (on ridge racer) shows a virtual wheel that you steer with. ridge racer itself isnt that great of a game from what i hear, but i cant wait to see nintendo and its developers optimize the control of the touch screen.
