So, do you have long term/affectionate online friends? By this I mean people who you have known in one way or another (primarily online) for 5+ years.infact who are long term friends.  I’ve met a few people in person that I know online, but, most of them I know just over instant messenger, forums, email, etc.

It’s weird because there are a few people that I used to talk to ALL the time a few years back who seem to have dropped off of the face of the earth a year or two ago. I haven’t heard from them since.

Makes me wonder if anything happened? Considering that I don’t necessarily have physical contact information for most people that I know online, I may never know what became of a few of the people I used to know online.

It’s kind of a weird feeling in a way. Other times though, just when I am ready to assume the worst, somebody I haven’t talked to in AGES pops up on AIM or MSN. It’s always nice to see a familiar.. screen name.

I love talking online to my friends but it is hard to stay in touch sometimes through the phone and real-life, so e-mailing is a great way to stay in touch. I do have a couple of friends that I do wish I got to know more, but with social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace, keeping in touch seems so much easier nowadays. We can easily find our high school on Facebook and see how the other classmates are doing. IM is a great way to stay in touch and I do like IM more than e-mail. However, one of my friends and I e-mail each other once a day and it is extremely fun. We do see each other once or twice a week, but with e-mailing everyday, we have a chance to chat more and get to know each other a bit more. I do miss some people who I talk to on IM and it is quite sad that we sometimes don’t have great conversations like we use to.

I actually don’t use any social networking sites. I think they are a great way to keep in touch, but do I use it? No and the reason is that I will get so extremely addicted to it. I was addicted to a previous site so much that I would be changing my profile every hour or something and spicing up my page. Will I get Facebook eventually? Of course, but at the moment, no. Although all my friends are telling me to, haha. So, how do I keep in touch with online buddies? I usually use e-mail or IM. That is awesome how many online friends you have, although I think staying in touch would be the most important thing with online friends. 😉

As u said the only advantage and disadvantage that we get from this social networking sites is addiction like games.
