There was a massive fire this morning at Universal Studios:

Does anyone know if this is going to affect any future production of TV shows or movies?  I really hope not, that combined with the writers strike has ruined my year!!

They won’t be able to make King Kong 2 and Back to the Future 4.

Yeah i’ve heard about it.not only the studio but several data centers of big websites also caught fire & some have been demolished completely. So, you may have noticed there’s still some sites which are still offline.but i don’t think it will affect the studio in a big way. They must have some back-up systems too. 😊

I did hear about this fire and well, they said it could have been worst, so that’s a weird saying. I don’t know if it will affect any future TV or movie productions, but I found a news article that will, hopefully, answer your question.

The fire destroyed two New York and New England sets featured in such movies as “Back to the Future, “When Harry Met Sally,” “The Sting” and the upcoming “Changeling,” directed by Clint Eastwood. “These are some of the most widely used urban big street film sets in the business. It’s an unfortunate loss, but I’m sure they can quickly rebuild,” said Jim Yeager, former head of public relations for Universal Parks and Resorts. Of the TV productions on the lot, “Ghost Whisperer,” which stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, was touched by the fire. Two of the supernatural drama’s eight locations were damaged, according to a studio spokesman.
