It is reported that Microsoft?s latest version of Internet Explorer 8 has arrived. The new browser delivers many new features and improvements, like Facebook and eBay integration, standards compliance and the ability to work with AJAX web pages.

After using Firefox for so long I dont think I’m going back to Internet Explorer. I like all the colors and add-ons you can add to firefox. Unless Internet Explorer does something drastically to change their browser people are going to stick with Firefox. What kind of features does the new Internet Explorer have?

Activities
Activities are contextual services to quickly access a service from any webpage. Users typically copy and paste from one webpage to another. Internet Explorer 8 Activities make this common pattern easier to do.

Activities typically involve two types of scenarios: “look up” information within a webpage or “send” web content to a web application. For example, a user is interested in a restaurant and wants to see the location of it. This is the form of a “look up” Activity where the user selects the address and views an in-place view of the map using his favorite map service.

WebSlices
WebSlices is a new feature for websites to connect to their users by subscribing to content directly within a webpage. WebSlices behave just like feeds where clients can subscribe to get updates and notify the user of changes

Favorites Bar
In Internet Explorer 7, the Links bar provided users with one-click access to their favorite sites. The Links bar has undergone a complete makeover for Internet Explorer 8. It has been renamed the Favorites bar to enable users to associate this bar as a place to put and easily access all their favorite web content such as links, feeds, WebSlices and even Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.

Automatic Crash Recovery
Automatic Crash Recovery (ACR) is a feature of Internet Explorer 8 that can help to prevent the loss of work and productivity in the unlikely event of the browser crashing or hanging. The ACR feature takes advantage of the Loosely-Coupled Internet Explorer feature to provide new crash recovery capabilities, such as tab recovery, which will minimize interruptions to users? browsing sessions.

Improved Phishing Filter
Internet Explorer 7 introduced the Phishing Filter, a feature which helps warn users when they visit a phishing site. Phishing sites spoof a trusted legitimate site, with the goal of stealing the user?s personal or financial information. For Internet Explorer 8, we are building on the success of the Phishing Filter with a more comprehensive feature called the “Safety Filter.”

Unless IE8 is going to allow external “plug-ins,” I don’t think there is any way it is going to match up to Firefox. It may be really slick-looking, but Firefox has been slick-looking for years. Plus, I don’t think I could leave some of my Firefox plug-ins now that I’ve gotten used to them.

Sorry Microsoft, but there’s no use in developing more and more internet browsers!

Even if Microsoft allowed external plug-in with IE8 it still wouldn’t be able to match up to FireFox. To me IE is still to bloated for its own good and uses way to many resources compared to FireFox. It takes at least twice as long for IE to load compared to FireFox on my system. Maybe if Microsoft slims it down some, makes it use less resources and adds the ability to use external plug-ins then IE might be able to compete with FireFox.

I have never used Firefox although I have been thinking about it with internet explorer having issues of its own. I wonder how good IE8 will be, hopefully they did alot of updates concerning security and such, they have so many flaws.

Nope, sorry, Firefox 3 is coming soon, and it’s going to blow every Browser out the window. See the preformance of firefox 3 vs. everything else. it simply rocks. also, it includes a lot more security then IE.

Someone i can’t remember now said that it’s buggy.It’s expected from a MS product though.From the early reviews, i think, it would take more ram than the FF.Let’s just wait for the retail version then.Even then Ms won’t be able to cope-up with FF again. 😉
