Only 27 more days!

37 days, if you’re in the UK. (June 8)

I hear that there will be a demo on XBL, probably this week. Thoughts?

As soon as the demo is here I will be all over it. I still don’t have any racing games for my 360 yet, so the probability of me getting it is fairly high.

Good choice! The first Forza game was amazing, and this one looks to be even better.

Eh, I’ll probably give it a rent. I wasn’t very good at the original Forza. :?

I was pretty awful at the first Forza, too, but I’m really excited for Forza 2. It’s probably in my top 5 in terms of games I’m most highly anticipated this year.

Have you guys seen the new opening video for the game? It looks really, really sweet. I’m pretty amped to get my hands on the game.

Yeah, the new opening looks pretty cool. I liked the Mugello video more, though. Gotta love that Z06!

The Forza 2 demo is now out on XBLM. Downloading it now… I’ll post up some impressions, later on.

What do you guys think of it?

Alright, so I downloaded the demo and I’ve played it a little bit. Unfortunately, there is only one track: Mugello Circuit. However, there are a good number of cars. The physics seem… well, I want to say improved, but I honestly think that different is a better word from Forza 1. The C class cars are a bit heavy, but only in comparison to the A and R class cars. So, I guess that the physics are pretty good, in that respect. I’m not sure if it’s just that I’m not used to driving the A and R class cars or just what, but they seem very, very loose. It’s very easy to slide with the upper-class cars. For some reason, I don’t get the same sense of power with the R-class Corvette as I did in Forza 1, either. It’s very strange… It could be because my volume was turned down pretty low (my brother is asleep), but I think it’s also that the car doesn’t give the same sense of it pulling like it did in Forza 1. The Corvettes in Forza 1 felt like they always wanted me to go faster, and if you stepped on the gas, you really felt it, and your car really pulled. I don’t really get this same feeling with the cars in Forza 2, although it could just be that they’re all stock. Once I get some parts on these things, they might show me a lot more oomph.

As far as graphics go, the cars look great, but the track is a tad disappointing. It’s only about as good as a PGR3 track. I don’t really think it’s a big deal, but I thought it would be worth mentioning.

Overall, I’m fairly satisfied with the way the game plays. It still feels like Forza Motorsport. The only downfall of the demo is that it lacks a lot of the features of the full game. You can’t add parts, you can’t customize your paint, you can’t customize anything, you can’t change the control scheme, and you can only drive on Mugello Circuit. I’d have to say that it’s probably a great demo, from Microsoft’s standpoint, because it’s left me only wanting more. I want all the features that the game boasts; so now I have to wait for the game’s release, with fuel added to the fire in the form of this demo.

Ok, after spending more time with the game (I’ve driven all the A class cars and most of the C class cars; R class, you’re next!), I know that it’s going to be great. I’m still very disappointed in the fact that I cannot tune or upgrade the cars in the demo (come on, Turn 10!), but it just makes me look forward to the game more (which, I guess, is the idea…). I find myself sliding a lot more than I’d like to, but I’m pretty sure that it’s due to two things: 1) I’m not trying very hard to drive especially well (the CPU basically hands you the race, in the demo… 🙄) and 2) it’s nothing that a differential, new shocks, new brakes, and new tires couldn’t fix 😛

Also, I’m going to take back what I said about the cars having no pull. After having more time with the game, it’s easy to tell that some cars have much more pull than others (like the SLR McLaren!). I’m now 100% satisfied with my reservation at GameStop; May 29th just can’t come fast enough. I can’t wait to get a new set of tires on my Corvette Z06….

If I get time I’ll be checking out the demo this week end. Along with C&C. I still haven’t gotten into that one yet.

I’m very satisfied with the demo, myself. The graphics aren’t overly impressive and we’ve only got one track to play with, but the physics are right on in my opinion. One perfect example is just how you can feel that you nailed a turn (or that you didn’t). When you slide around a corner and start accelerating properly, you can tell you nailed it.

Beautiful.
