As with anything Proxy’s can be put to good or bad use. In that case the user put the proxy to bad use, but people usually use proxy’s to protect their privacy, which is good.

What most proxy’s really do is hide your real IP address so when you visit a site, the Proxy’s IP is logged, not yours. Of course as with anything there is a way around a proxy to get your real IP and its done with Java.

And MKDaMan1818 I’d check out http://www.stayinvisible.com for a list of proxys.

I dont think this is for ALL proxy, what if you have your own Proxy Server, and is made by hackers?

The only possible way to stop Javascript from finding out your IP is turning off Java. Unless you use a local proxy. http://www.stayinvisible.com/index.pl/how_it_works

You will most likely get caught because they will do a search for that IP and find out it’s a proxy, but unless they logged it before they won’t know your real IP.

There are more ways to get their REAL IP address. For example:

$HTTP_SERVER_VARS[“HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR”];

in PHP. Uisng a proxy will not prevent u from getting trojans etc. The way to protect against those is knowledge of what you are doing. Dont use IE, get a firewall (Sygate is good), and ur Anti-Virus (AVG Free).
