I told my wife he was the winner when i heard his voice for the first time (I’m a vocal instruct., so i can usually smell the talent). Although surprised by his move, I cant blame him. I would’ve done the same. I know its like the highest rated show all the time but this contest is a joke. America rarely get anything right. I watch ONLY the acts i think are good (my wife is an avid fan). I ignore the rest.
Mario’s way too talented for American Idol. Honestly he can build a better carreer with the right management. Nobody can say that he was guaranteed stardom from this competition. Go Mario, Get Famous!, Get$$$. 👏
Mario certainly wasn’t the best vocalist out there. He was probably just the most marketable because of his look. Who cares if he leaves American Idol in order to take a record deal (if that is, in fact, what happened), the whole point of GOING on American Idol is to get a record deal.

I certainly agree to disagree with this by every standpoint.
1. Mario was the whole package - maybe not the best vocalist on AI but definitely top 3. He was the most entertaining to watch by far. There were many good vocalists that I just walked away from my TV just to get a snack, or pee, or surf gear live! :roll:
2. The point of American Idol USED to be to get a record deal from RCA (i think that the AI label). Every talent that makes it in the top 12, especially the top 6 knows that they have gotten the exposure they need to possibly solidify a deal even if they dont win. So Mario, I believe left at the opportune time to ensure his golden paycheck. Go Mario! $$$ 👏
AI finalists are required by contract to fulfill their obligations on the show (which they get paid for as long as they dont get eliminated). Mario probably left b4 he had to sign anything concrete. His mom didnt even know about it until there was a reporter at her door! <-(so says the newspaper)

Very true. Aside from Kelly Clarkson I haven’t heard about anyone else who won on American Idol and became famous. I can’t even remember the guy who won last year. All I could remember is that he was chubby.

O man Fantasia is horrible! Shes makes me wanna poke out my eyes.
Anyhow I thought Mario was really good for the competition. He was down to Earth and in style haha. He has a good voice, not as good as some others but good enough. Makes me wonder if he can dance. Anyhow

Well I used to like Justin Guarini a lot (I’m one of 5 people that bought his album) and RJ from 1st season.
I like Ruben in the 2nd so I’m happy with that one.
I liked Diana DeGarmo A LOT. not in the pedophile way either. She should have one. She wasn’t necessarily a better singer but i saw the most potential in her.
