Hey guys,

I was wondering if you heard about this movie Ong-Bak, it’s a martial arts movie, with this guy carrying the whole show. There comparing this guy Tony Ja to be the next Bruce Lee. The Trailers really really speak for themselves, you can check them out for yourselves. As you can see from my sig, that’s one of the movie posters, if you haven’t heard about it. It has only played in certain theaters in the United States.  I have to say that this guy is BAD? He does his own stunts and when I say stunts I mean stunts, they have no effects added, and no wire to support him in the highflying.
What do you think about them hyping him to be the “Next Bruce Lee”?
Watch all of the trailers before you judge, and if you’ve seen the movie what did you think about it? It could be just hype, but man this guy kicks butt!  It’s at http://www.ongbakmovie.com/

I heard pretty good things about this movie, so I’d like to rent it when it comes out on DVD.  Can’t give a real vote other than I dunno for now.  😊

i saw it awhile back on vcd…not a bad movie, its strictly a “just watch for the martial arts” movie tho, hah. to say this guy is the next bruce lee is really stretching it. the man’s got talent, but he’s no bruce.

Yeah, when I first went to the website and I saw that they said he was the next Bruce Lee, I was like yeah right. I’m not saying he’s the next Bruce Lee, No one will ever Top Bruce Lee, he’sa legend. I’m just saying he has some potential to be a good star, but he could end up jobless like others.

Think anyone could ever be “The Next Buh-Buh-Buh-Broooooooooooce”?

 Hmmmm, I dunno, he was kinda fly for an Asian guy.. but we can’t live in “The Bruce Legacy” forever. Someone’s gotta take his place sometime! Right?

:?

I thought the movie was fantastic. Whether Tony Jaa will be the next Lee is a question too multi faceted to answer.  Will he contribute to martial arts as a whole as much as Lee did?  Will he enjoy as much notoriety through movies as Lee did?
Ong-Bak was a good movie, humor thrown in with great martial arts action.  In my opinion, it is much too early to decide if Tony Jaa will make his mark in either discipline.
