I am looking for a MP3 player. Not the cd/mp3 player type. I just want something for when I am cutting the lawn, and for when I am in our grinding room at work. My budget is only $50-$100 any suggestions. Also I dont want to have to convert plain MP3’s into some other format.  I only need it to hold 2-4 hours of music.

Thanks

I would try the Rio Nitrus.  It’s a great MP3 player that holds 1.5 GB, and on ebay you can get brand new ones for a little over one hundred dollars.

But seriously, I would really reccommend a MD player.  very durable and great for things like mowing the lawn.

You can get the awesome sony 610 at amazon.com for around 110 with free shipping.

Hmm I don’t know, it sounds like you need a flash MP3 player, but I find those such a waste of money.

I must agree, mindisc player sounds the best for you 😊

Why are flash mp3’s a waste of $$? What about something like this?

Any decent? or a waste of $$?

Flash players arent really a waste of money, because they are cheaper than HDD players. It’s just that there isnt a large margin in between the price of a Flash based versus the price of a hard drive based.

I would check out http://www.iriver.com and look at their flash based line.

This list might be a good start. Just count out the mp3-cd player.

Maybe wait for the new MD players?

They’re to be capable of 1GB of storage, and if it follows the MD trend, they’ll be fairly priced.

How about the iRiver IFP series?   Although I think you’ll need to spend a little more than $100 to get decent storage.  If not, you’ll be swapping out the songs every night.

I think I am going to end up shelling put the extra cash for a HD type player.  Now the only thing I am wondering is they say not to jog with hd players, but I am wondering if the vibration from a riding lawnmower will affect the palyer??  Anyone know?

I bought an iRiver (iFP-380T) about a year ago, and it has worked flawlessly with great online support and firmware updates, ease of use, etc. I would highly reccomend one to anybody looking for something that doesnt skip ever and just wants a few hours of music.

I’ll third those iRiver acclaims.
Nice players, good batt life, and feature rich.

I love the direct to MP3 recording those little flash players can do…plus they just look cool.
