haha i think im a horrible singer lol. My brother caught me singing once alone and he bugs me to hell about it. Cause thats how bad i am. Haha what a thing to do, get caught singing in your room. Tsk tsk for me.
[quote author=“pezdukie”]No, I’m horrible at singing. I don’t even know if I’m and alto, bari, or tenor. It’s just bad…
Well, it’s not that hard to tell. You’re a :
Soprano if you’re a woman and can sing high. Mezzo-Sporano if you’re a woman and can sing sort of in the middle range, ie not too high, yet not too low. Alto if you’re a woman and can sing low (for a female, relative to a man). Tenor if you’re a male and can sing high (for a male, relative to a woman). Baritone if you’re a male and can sing sort of in the middle range, ie not too high and not too low (I myself am a baritone. Baritones also tend to have a good falsetto). Bass if you’re a male and can sing low.
Some voice types overlap, like a contralto is a female who has the range of a male baritone or a countertenor who is a male that has the range of a female soprano. But those voice types are rare. In fact, I’ve never met either!
Most choirs are SATB, or Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass, with mezzos and baritones typically going in the soprano and bass section respectively.
That’s enough of the Music Appreciation lesson for today. Let me know if you wanna learn more about this stuff! :D
I actually just switched my major from vocal performance since I know I have no prayer of making money by singing. I may be a kick ass singer, but ya gotta have the looks to go along with it 😉
