Considering an iPod, but I’m curious about the boot time.  How long do you have to wait from when you power it on to when you’re able to play mp3s?  Is it instant?  I’ve read about people with iRiver H320’s with 2,000 songs, and they have to wait more than 30 seconds.

It is instant, the iPod never turns off, it just goes to sleep.

But if you do have to reset it for any reason, it’s like a 10 second wait.  Not too bad…

If you don’t use it for a day or two, it does the long boot time. That’s about 15 seconds.
