We’re throwing in a little bit of everything following the long Thanksgiving weekend. The Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks provided turkeys of games as they got blown out by the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Thursday. The front-runners keep winning and Plaxico Burress looks like a jailbird. To the stew!
Attention-getter: Carolina Panthers pick up a road victory at Green Bay, Steve Smith makes a great 54-yard catch with 1:48 left in game to set up the winning TD.
Yummy: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina play next Monday night (both sport 9 -3 records) as two below-the-radar teams get to showcase their wares to a national audience.
Enticing: Cowboys at the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday.
Funky: Kansas City Chiefs beat the Oakland Raiders with the help of a Raider botched gadget play. Holder Shane Lechler tried to flip the ball to kicker Sebastian Janokowski. Instead, it fell into the hands of KC’s Maurice Legget who took it on a 67-yard TD run. Next week the Raiders plan to have Janokowski heading up the wildcat offense and running back kickoffs.
Close Call: Indianapolis Colts barely beat the Cleveland Browns. They score no offensive TDs. Instead they need a defensive TD via Dwight Freeney knocking the ball from QB Derek Anderson and Robert Mathis picking it up and going 36 yards for the score.
Inevitable: Now with a record of 1-10-1, Cincinnati Bengals fans have stolen from the infamous New Orleans ‘Aints (prior to the Sean Payton era). “Bungles” fans are now coming to the stadium with bags over their heads.
Incredible: San Francisco 49ers beat the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo! The 49ers became the first west coast team to win in the eastern time zone this season.
Wonder: How does San Diego Chargers coach Norv Turner still have a job?
Implosion: New England Patriots miss a go-ahead field goal at the end of the first half (after Randy Moss dropped a sure-fire TD pass) and then can’t hold onto the ball in the second half. Pittsburgh comes away with a 33-10 victory.
Shameless: On Monday Night Football, Plaxico Burress’ agent Drew Rosenhaus went live doing damage control. He equated what Plaxico is going through (following his recent gun stupidity) with that of dealing with the slaying of Sean Taylor.
