Audrey HepburnAudrey Hepburn’s designer clothes collection sold at auction for over $400,000.

A set of 36 items belonging to the actress went up for sale in London’s La Galleria this past week, including a cocktail dress worn by the screen legend in the film How to Steal a Million - which raised $97,000.

Tanja Star-Busmann - who had been friends with Audrey from the age of 15 - revealed the actress was always a fan of passing her unwanted clothes on. She wrote in the auction guide:

“Over the years a cavalcade of boxes filled to the brim with haute-couture evening dresses, divine little cocktail ensembles, easy-to-wear silk supper dresses, sensible tweed coats, chic little day suits and glamorous dressing gowns, often accompanied by wonderful accessories, arrived at my door. Unpacking them was always like Christmas a thousand times over.”

The pricey cocktail dress was not the only item to sell well. A luxurious black silk gown which belonged to the late actress - who died in 1993 - sold for $27,000, and an exquisite wedding dress went under the hammer for $22,000. In 2007, a cocktail dress worn by the legendary actress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s sold for almost $162,600.

Kim sporting her new hair with sister Kourtney Kardashian

Kim Kardashian finds hair extensions “torturous.”

The socialite and TV personality has spoken out about the painful process she endures to keep her hair looking good for photo shoots. After posing for a series of photos with caramel, chocolate and blonde strips in her hair, she took to her Twitter account to find out her fans’ response and moan about the painful hair-thickening and lengthening procedure.

“Do you like the streaks? Those blonde streaks were extensions that they glued in for a shoot! It took hours to get them out and now I have this glue in my hair! Torture!”

Madonna on stageMadonna insists working out is part of her job.

The 51-year-old singer - who has previously faced criticism for her overly-toned physique - claims it is important for her to exercise regularly as she has to look as good as she can when wearing her skimpy stage outfits.

“I do it for health reasons, and for aesthetic reasons. If I have to go out on stage and, you know, jump around in a pair of hot pants I better look good and also when I perform I’m like an athlete and I have to be in good shape. I’m not panicked, I just know what my job is and I know that if I want to be able to wear whatever I want to wear on stage then my body better look good.”

It has previously been claimed that Madonna planned to “tone down” her sinewy arms. A source said, “There aren’t many women her age who have a body like that but even Madonna may have to admit this time she might have to tone it down. “She asked her trainer Tracy Anderson what she could do to stop her arms looking so sinewy. Tracy told her to do more stretching exercises to make them look leaner and Madonna has decided to follow her advice.”

I’ve just seen ‘s future—and it involves far less than tank tops and shorts.

In this new spot for Victoria’s Secret, Transformers director Michael Bay asked a bevy of beauties to do far more “insane things” than he’s probably ever asked Fox to do. Play pool while kneeling on the table? (Ouch! Rug burns!) Walk through the desert while wearing black and heels? Stand in front of an explosion with very little protective clothing?

If Megan doesn’t start appreciating her boss soon, I’m sure there are plenty of other women who could easily do her job.

Cheryl Cole dons red locksThe X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole “couldn’t care less” what her husband thinks of her appearance.

The Girls Aloud star - who has been married to soccer star Ashley Cole for five years - insists she makes her own mind up on her style choices regardless of his viewpoint. The 26-year-old beauty dyed her hair red for a magazine shoot earlier this year and wants to return to the color, despite her spouse not being a fan.

“Oh I couldn’t care less! I loved it and that’s the main thing. I might consider doing it again, but permanently. “

The singer admitted she has made bad style choices over the years but now knows what suits her - though she is terrified of cutting her hair short.

“I used to think you could wash your hair with a bar of soap. Then there was the time I was overweight and I cut my hair short. It made my face look moon-like. It’s a shame, because it stopped me from cutting it again. I associate long hair with feeling good. At school, whoever had the longest hair was the coolest girl.”

Lady Gaga in Elizabethan-inspired, leather costume

Update: It has now been reported that the dress was made of latex, not leather.
When Lady Gaga talked to Jay Leno a few weeks ago, she showed no fear regarding what she would wear when performing for the Queen of England. Judging by the images from the event, the pop star certainly did not hold back from her usual, zany fare.

Dressed in an Elizabethan-inspired

leather

latex number, Gaga took the stage—along with her 20 ft. train—atop a suspended piano for a scene (image after the jump) that could pass off as being pulled from a Tim Burton film.

Helen Mirren pictured in a bikini just last yearDame Helen Mirren sleeps as much as she can to stay young.

The 64-year-old actress - who is known for her enviable, toned figure - maintains her youthful appearance by shunning celebrity parties and getting a good night’s sleep.

“I sleep. When I’m working really hard, I don’t party. I don’t go to the bar after work. I don’t go out to restaurants. I just go to bed. If I’m on a film, I even try to catch some sleep in my trailer at lunchtime. I really try to sleep as much as possible. It’s very important and, as you get older, it becomes more so.”

The screen legend also takes vitamin tablets, sticks to a healthy diet and occasionally exercises. Helen claims she looks after her body for health reasons rather than to look good.

“I come and go about exercise. I do do it, but honestly, it’s not particularly a beauty thing, it’s just that as one gets older, one has to keep up one’s energy levels, and if you want to do that, you can’t stop exercising. But you know, we can’t actually stay young, and it’s ridiculous to pretend we can. The reality is that life goes on - tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock! I call it growing up and, to me, it doesn’t make much difference whether I’m 63 and three quarters, or 64 and a half. You know? You just carry on, and hopefully you get more sensible as you get older, which is all that really interests me.”

Taylor Swift in T Magazine- L’Oreal hires model-turned-actress Diane Kruger as their worldwide spokesperson (not that it was a surprise so much as it was a matter of which makeup company was going to demand a deal with her).

- Kelly Osbourne’s fiancé Luke Worrell experiments with androgyny. He looks just as gorgeous as a woman, too! How unfair is that?

- Taylor Swift rocks some major Prada Swarovski in a high fashion shoot for T: The New York Times Style Magazine; it’s nice to see her break out of her natural style and put those model looks of hers to good use.

- Epic collaborations keep coming! While Dior may be nabbing David Lynch, Karl Lagerfeld is never one to be outdone, recruiting Martin Scorsese to direct a Chanel

commercial

short film. What we’re all really wondering is whether or not Leonardo DiCaprio will be making an appearance…

- Lady Gaga, much like her appearance on Jay Leno’s show, toned down her outfit for Barbara Walters. Citing her inspiration as her mother’s classic Chanel suit, Gaga left her body art installations, masks, and heavy makeup at home. Lately, the once pantsless revolution leader has been embracing what she seemed to detest—is this a new age for the singer?

Anja Rubik for Wii Yoga

Polish model Anja Rubik says yoga helps her to walk in high heels.

The 26-year-old beauty - who has taken to the catwalk for Stella McCartney, Viktor + Rolf and Jean Paul Gaultier in the past - credits the stretching exercise with helping her maintain balance.

“I’ve been practicing yoga for three years. My job involves a lot of sitting on airplanes and a lot of walking in high heels! I find yoga helps with both. It can also do amazing things physically; it keeps me fit and helps my balance and focus.”
