Karolina KurkovaRachel Zoe spent sleepless nights over the Met Ball dress she designed for Karolina Kurkova.

Model Karolina stunned critics at the prestigious event in New York last week in a custom-made sequinned gold gown from the Rachel Zoe Collection, but the designer admits she was very nervous beforehand.

"I spent a lot of nights dreaming about what I wanted it to look like. Long sleeves, a very low back and a high neck were all musts for the dress, but the much-talked about headpiece was a last-minute addition. It happened literally the day before. 'What can I add to really take it to the next level?' So we made the turban-slash-head-wrap to give it that deco-glamour that [Elsa] Schiaparelli was so known for," said Rachel, who is a stylist to the stars.

Karolina, 28, walked the red carpet in the floor-length bodycon number at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala with 40-year-old Rachel, who wore a white dress from Commes des Garcons.

Tyra BanksTyra Banks used to get letters saying she was "too fat" when she was a size six.

The America's Next Top Model host has spoken out in support of Vogue magazine's anti-eating disorders initiative and she has slammed fashion designers for only hiring skinny models.

"When I was a model I was a four and then I started to become curvy and became a six and I got so many letters saying I was way too big and fashion designers were telling me I was fat. My mom got letters from designers saying they are not going to hire me anymore," she said.

The 38-year-old supermodel recalls being shocked at seeing models so skinny they had developed lanugo, a fur that can appear when a person is malnourished, and she is grateful to the publication's campaign for highlighting some of the issues in the fashion industry: "This is a really big deal as it's been an unspoken rule in my opinion that the fashion industry says it's OK to be as skinny as you can just as long as you can walk and you don't faint. I would see girls that had lanugo on their skin, a duck-like fur that comes on your body when you're anorexic when you're body is screaming out for warmth."

Whitney PortWhitney Port admits it was a "challenge" creating her jewelry line.

The reality TV star - who has her own fashion line - is launching accessories line Bits & Bobs by Whitney Eve later this year and says it wasn't an easy process.

"I really had to explain and translate what was in my head to the people that know how to make it. I can't make it on my own. So that's always a challenge," she told People.

Whitney introduced Bits & Bobs on her website last month, writing, "I had a blast going through the bins and bins of chains, beads, brooches and vintage jewelry in order to achieve what we have made. I cannot wait for many more collections. It features a lot of mixed metals and chains. It's vintage-y looking. It's kind of like punk mixed with a little feminine edge. Lots of golds and silver. It's pretty exciting."

However, Whitney insists she's still full focused on her clothing line, saying, "My clothing line is really my main focus right now."

Karlie Kloss and Jason WuKarlie Kloss and Jason Wu are teaming up to raise $50,000 for AIDS organizations.

The model and the designer are close friends and will head up a team called Step Forward to complete a 6.2-mile sponsored AIDS Walk around New York this Saturday. They are currently taking sponsorships to reach their target.

"The idea came about at the Met Ball with a mutual friend of ours. We were in a sea of glamour and we looked at each other and said, 'what do we do next?' The AIDS Walk became a perfect opportunity to change our ballgown and black tie for sneakers and work-out clothes. Juicy Couture is even donating a bucket of money for me to wear their clothes for the event which is amazing - it's fantastic to see my friends in the fashion community getting behind us, come on guys!" Karlie explained.

Karlie, 19, wore a custom-made pink gown by Jason to the Met ball earlier this month. She joked she had been training for the walk by getting plenty of practice on catwalks:

Chloe SevignyChloe Sevigny hates going to fashion shows.

The Gummo actress doesn't like to attend high fashion events because she is not comfortable being around people she deems to be "popular kids."

"I don't enjoy going to fashion shows. It's very high school, it's very 'the most popular kids in the front row,' and everybody's checking everybody else out, and you have to do all this press and get your picture taken. It's not fun for me - it's work."

Stylish Chloe claims she goes to shows in order to support her friends, or if she is "getting paid." Ironically Chloe, 37, initially made her name through her unique sense of style. "My style helps me make a lot of money, so it's kind of important. It's kind of a hobby. I like getting dressed, I like putting myself together. I admire people who put a little effort into their style. But as far as my face in the industry, it has been pretty lucrative for me. I think that those companies are interested in me because I don't work with a stylist - it's me, myself, it's my personal style. They can sense that," she added.

Vidal SassoonMiley Cyrus is among the stars to have paid tribute to Vidal Sassoon.

The celebrity hairstylist - whose 1960s wash-and-wear cuts allowed women to be freed from hairspray - passed away at his home in Los Angeles Wednesday morning aged 84, and a number of famous faces and fellow stylists have hailed his revolutionary ways.

"RIP Vidal Sassoon. You are forever fabulous," Miley wrote on her Twitter.

Model Erin O'Connor hailed Vidal as an "inspiration" in her tribute. "RIP Vidal Sassoon. Inspired so many, myself included," she wrote.

Meanwhile, celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke praised Vidal for his "drive of modernism" and overhaul of women's hairstyling. "He was part of that drive of modernism. He was very, very interested in modernism of all sorts...he just introduced all of that into hair. And at the same time he probably freed women of that weekly ritual of having their hair backcombed and being under a dryer. It depicted a whole new look of that time," he said on Daybreak.
