Lily Cole: Physical Perfection Doesn’t Exist

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Health & Beauty, Models,
Lily Cole doesn't believe in physical perfection. The supermodel and actress admits she has put herself until pressure to maintain a certain look in the past but says as she has gotten older, she realizes that no one is perfect.
Speaking in a new film created for the New Thinker's Index, Lily, 23, said, "I don't believe in perfection, I don't believe it exists and I don't believe it's necessary. I've put myself under a lot of pressure in the past, too skinny or too fat. It can be quite a destructive way to live life. A lot of advertising can make people think you're not enough as you are, you're not enough until you have that or look like that."
Although Lily sometimes got annoyed with photographers demanding constant alterations while shooting her, she admitted Irving Penn, who died in 2009, knew exactly what he was doing.
"In terms of fashion Irving Penn kept making me make such tiny alterations when I posed for him, I remember thinking it seemed silly, it was so particular but after seeing the contact sheet I realized the last two shots had nailed it."

Claudia Schiffer Updates Iconic Guess Shot

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Models,
Claudia Schiffer stars in an update of her iconic 1989 Guess shot to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary.
The photo of the supermodel - wearing nothing but a bustier, gold hoop earrings and with her blonde locks blowing across her face - boosted the brand enormously and her new shoot saw her reunited with its photographer, Ellen von Unwerth.
"She was a turning point of Guess, she was a turning point of Ellen's career, Guess was a turning point of a life for Claudia," said Paul Marciano, chief executive officer and creative director of Guess.
Although the shot didn't feature a pair of the denim jeans the company is most famous for, Paul added that it "made her career in my view, and that made Guess a different company. Everybody talked about the Guess Girl."
Claudia featured in six campaigns for the company from 1989 to 1991, and is still very fond of the brand.

Miranda Kerr tries to have "fun" when she is on the runway.
The Australian beauty - best known as a model for underwear brand Victoria's Secret - admits she does get nervous when she has to parade her body in front of people, but makes an effort to enjoy herself.
"For me personally I try not to think about it too much and just try to have fun with it and have a good time. I love runway, especially Victoria's Secret runways, they're really fun, we get to express our personality and have fun up there on stage. I also like studio shoots too, they're really fun. It's like working with family."
Miranda, who is married to British hunk Orlando Bloom, particularly loves the brand's new "sexy collection" and their multi-way bra: "The new very sexy collection is great for summer. It's so versatile. There's beautiful colors. My favorite piece in the collection is the very sexy multi-way bra. You can wear it cross back, halter back, low-back. It's just a really good bra to have in your wardrobe."
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley claims she was "bullied" by modeling agents when she started out.
The Victoria's Secret beauty admitted she was more naïve when she first began working in the fashion industry and found it difficult to stand up for herself when she was feeling under pressure and overworked.
"It was hard. You can get a bit bullied. You're a child surrounded by adults and you don't have a voice. You get pushed around by agents; your needs don't matter. You say that you need a day off, or that you don't feel comfortable doing such-and-such, and people just don't listen," she said.
However, the 24-year-old model-and-actress says the power balance has shifted in her favour in recent years: "The last couple of years, things have been different. I have earned my right to be heard. All I ever wanted to do was to be part of the industry, to collaborate with people and have a voice. I love fashion, I love what I do and I have an opinion ... They treat me like I'm part of the family, not just some clothes hanger."
Adriana Lima is pregnant.
The 30-year-old model and her husband, former NBA star Marko Jaric, are "very excited" about welcoming their second child into the world later this year.
"The entire family is very excited, especially Valentina. She keeps blowing kisses to my belly and saying, 'Kisses for the baby,'" Adriana - who has a two-year-old daughter Valentina with Marko - told People.
The Victoria's Secret beauty - who met Marko in 2006 and married him in February 2009 - has previously proclaimed motherhood to be the "best job in the world."
"The best job in the world for me is being a mom. I never thought I could love so much. I always thought, does unconditional love exist? Now I know it does because I feel it."
Brazilian Adriana previously admitted she knew she wanted to settle down with Marko and have children when they first met: "I knew he was the one and I could see myself married to him and with a big family."
L’Wren Scott Was Too Tall for Fashionable Clothes

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Models,
L'Wren Scott could never find anything to fashionable to wear when she was younger because she was so tall.
The 6ft 3in designer - who is currently dating Rolling Stones legend Sir Mick Jagger- says while her height has enabled her to be a successful model, it also has it hindrances.
"I was so tall and so skinny - I was that kid who couldn't find anything to wear. All the cool kids would have jeans the right length and I would just think 'What am I going to do?'" she said.
As well as having a successful modeling career, L'Wren is also a well-respected designer after launching her own label in 2006 and says it's important for women to feel good in her creations: "I wanted to create things that you can always pull out of your closet and rely on. I wanted to create a timeless, classic collection of clothing that you can keep expanding on. If you don't feel good in it, don't wear it because you'll never look good."
Alessandra Ambrosio Plans Quick Work Return

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News,
Alessandra Ambrosio plans to return to work quickly after giving birth.
The Victoria's Secret model announced in December she and fiance Jamie Mazur are expecting their second child together and the 30-year-old beauty has pledged to return to her duties for the lingerie firm by July.
"I already have jobs planned for afterwards so hopefully will be back in shape! I told my booker and my manager, 'I know I have a job to do, so just book the jobs and hopefully it'll be fine.' I only have a few more jobs to do before I have the baby - all editorial, no more catwalk now - and then I hope to be back in London for the opening of the Victoria's Secret store in July. I should definitely be back for the next Victoria's Secret show - I have quite a while until then."
Alessandra - who already has three-year-old daughter Anja with Jamie - insists her pregnancy hasn't affected her work because she is feeling so good: "It's the same thing, the belly button sticks out a bit more, but it's the same job! I feel the same."
Cindy Crawford is jealous of her 10-year-old daughter's youth.
Kaia Gerber recently made her modeling debut in a Versace kids campaign and while mum Cindy, 46, was undoubtedly proud, she admits to feeling slightly envious.
Asked about her feelings on the aging process, the supermodel told the Daily Mail newspaper, "Oh, please. I am a normal woman, I have good days and bad days and it's not really that fun. I look at my daughter and I'm like, 'You have my old skin and I want it back! You have my old legs, I want them back! You have my old hair, I want it back!' She is just getting more and more beautiful and, you know ... But at the same time, there's so much good that comes with it. And I think if you're happy in your life, it's a lot easier to take."
Karlie Kloss Makes Catwalk Return in Paris

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Models, Rumors,
Karlie Kloss made her catwalk return during Paris Fashion Week yesterday.
The model - who skipped Milan, London and New York Fashion Week this year - took to the runway for Anthony Vaccarello, where she opened the show, and is set to also walk for Christian Dior, Lanvin and Jean Paul Gaultier.
According to Fashionista.com, Karlie had cancelled all Milan, London and New York Fashion Week appearances this year because she had planned to film a commercial in Japan but it fell through allowing her to take part in Paris Fashion Week. Karlie was joined on the runway by several other top names including Joan Smalls, Anja Rubik and Arizona Muse, while Kanye West was spotted in the front row.
The 19-year-old Chicago born model, however, admitted recently she was missing New York Fashion Week, tweeting, "No one is more bummed than me to be missing out on all of the#NYFW fun - sending all my love to NYC! Xx (sic)"

Miranda Kerr works hard to maintain her svelte figure.
The Victoria's Secret model quickly regained her amazing body following the birth of her son, Flynn, 13 months ago but admits it wasn't easy: "It's been a lot of yoga and Pilates, and eating healthily. It does take hard work."
The Australian beauty is known for following a strict organic diet and sticking to a rigorous fitness regime but admits she does sometimes treat herself: "If you want to have a little indulgence every now and then, then that's okay. Sometimes I'll feel like some dark chocolate or sometimes I'll feel like some French fries."
Miranda, 28, recently revealed how important it is for women to feel good about themselves. "I can't feel bad about being who I am, just like the girl next to me can't feel bad about being who she is. Because a rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose. I want to encourage women to embrace their own uniqueness. Because just like a rose is beautiful, so is a sunflower, so is a peony. I mean, all flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that's like women too."
