Victoria Beckham works on her posture is studying the Alexander Technique to improve her posture.

The 35-year-old star is said to be concerned about her rounded shoulders after years of walking incorrectly in high-heeled shoes and hopes the discipline, which helps strengthen the body and its core muscles, can help her.

“Victoria has been told that her poor posture has caused her bones to be improperly aligned, with her muscles, joints and ligaments taking more stress than they should. She absolutely hates the fact that in pictures she often has somewhat of a hunched-back stance and she hates having rounded shoulders, so she has been saying she feels so much better,” a source said.

Victoria is practicing every day and is already seeing results from her sessions. The source added, “Victoria has been working hard on getting a straight back and correcting her terrible posture. You can tell that something is working as the years of Victoria’s shoulders being slumped are over, she’s walking straighter now. She practices the discipline after the gym every morning and at night. She is standing straighter and her body feels more aligned. It also helps you cope with stress.”

The Alexander Technique is a method of changing everyday movement habits to improve freedom of movement, balance, co-ordination and posture, and to reduce tension.

Madonna on stageMadonna insists working out is part of her job.

The 51-year-old singer - who has previously faced criticism for her overly-toned physique - claims it is important for her to exercise regularly as she has to look as good as she can when wearing her skimpy stage outfits.

“I do it for health reasons, and for aesthetic reasons. If I have to go out on stage and, you know, jump around in a pair of hot pants I better look good and also when I perform I’m like an athlete and I have to be in good shape. I’m not panicked, I just know what my job is and I know that if I want to be able to wear whatever I want to wear on stage then my body better look good.”

It has previously been claimed that Madonna planned to “tone down” her sinewy arms. A source said, “There aren’t many women her age who have a body like that but even Madonna may have to admit this time she might have to tone it down. “She asked her trainer Tracy Anderson what she could do to stop her arms looking so sinewy. Tracy told her to do more stretching exercises to make them look leaner and Madonna has decided to follow her advice.”

Helen Mirren pictured in a bikini just last yearDame Helen Mirren sleeps as much as she can to stay young.

The 64-year-old actress - who is known for her enviable, toned figure - maintains her youthful appearance by shunning celebrity parties and getting a good night’s sleep.

“I sleep. When I’m working really hard, I don’t party. I don’t go to the bar after work. I don’t go out to restaurants. I just go to bed. If I’m on a film, I even try to catch some sleep in my trailer at lunchtime. I really try to sleep as much as possible. It’s very important and, as you get older, it becomes more so.”

The screen legend also takes vitamin tablets, sticks to a healthy diet and occasionally exercises. Helen claims she looks after her body for health reasons rather than to look good.

“I come and go about exercise. I do do it, but honestly, it’s not particularly a beauty thing, it’s just that as one gets older, one has to keep up one’s energy levels, and if you want to do that, you can’t stop exercising. But you know, we can’t actually stay young, and it’s ridiculous to pretend we can. The reality is that life goes on - tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock! I call it growing up and, to me, it doesn’t make much difference whether I’m 63 and three quarters, or 64 and a half. You know? You just carry on, and hopefully you get more sensible as you get older, which is all that really interests me.”
