Daisy Lowe Models For Her Mom’s Collection

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty, Models, News,

Pearl and Daisy Lowe are proving that mothers and daughters make excellent teams. Daisy’s photos from her mother’s latest collection for Peacocks are out, and she looks absolutely angelic!
The vintage-inspired dress and accessory line (more photos after the jump) portrays Daisy in a softer light, as her father’s rock star genes tend to shine through her edgy personal style. She also seems to channel Victoria Beckham in a few of the shots.
I’m definitely liking Daisy’s floral, sans-heavy eyeliner look!

Tom Nicon Commits Suicide

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News, Rumors,
Model Tom Nicon has committed suicide.
The 22-year-old French model - who has also fronted campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss and Versace - reportedly jumped 40 ft. to his death from his apartment window on Friday in Milan, Italy, after splitting from his girlfriend.
Tom, who is currently the face of iconic British brand Burberry, was found dead just hours before the start of Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week.
Designer Donatella Versace has expressed her sadness at the model’s death: “Tom was with us on Friday morning for a final show fitting. He seemed fine and calm. He had already done three or four shows with us and he was a sweet boy. We just can’t understand why he did what he did. We would never have thought he would do something like this. When we heard the news we were all so upset and we still are all so very sad.”

Julien MacDonald Clarifies Plus-Size Statement

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News,
Britain’s Next Top Model judge and fashion designer Julien MacDonald recently came under fire for negative comments towards plus-size models. “There were no plus-size models. This is a serious show… You can’t have a plus size girl winning—it makes it a joke,” he said of the television show. Now MacDonald is
back tracking
clarifying his statement.
“I absolutely think that plus-size models stand a chance of having a long term modeling career… But as I have already said, in certain sectors of the industry they are in much less demand. In certain parts of the fashion industry samples are made in smaller sizes, therefore it is far more difficult for a plus-size model to be successful.”
The former creative director of Givenchy also commended fellow British designer Mark Fast, who has been heralded for using plus-size models in his latest shows: “There have been some great initiatives in the fashion industry to use plus-size models. And it is great that Mark Fast is challenging convention. I have always loved strong, sexy, empowered women who walk well.”
You know that you’re part of the minority when Karl Lagerfeld, who had consistently put down
plus-size
“round” women, featured size 12 model Crystal Renn in his 2011 resort show.

Jimmy Choo Says Shoes Affect Personality

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty, News,
Jimmy Choo thinks shoes can change a woman’s personality.
The famous designer - whose creations are sought after by women across the globe - adores his work and believes footwear plays such an important role in people’s lives that he relishes the chance to improve their lifestyle.
“We all wear shoes, every day - we have to. So they are a very important part of your wardrobe. They say something about the way you hold your body. Shoes must be elegant, comfortable. They affect the person’s personality.”
The 40-year-old craftsman - who was born in Malaysia - has been designing shoes since he was just 11, but admits he still has battles with himself while trying to perfect his styles: “I’m a perfectionist. I get angry and I lose my tempter, but only over shoes. My temper is very quick but there’s never anything personal. If I lose my tempter with a member of staff, afterwards we’ll go for a drink. Maybe I just love my shoes too much!”
Jimmy recently revealed how it is never too late for people to start wearing heels, but can’t start off with skyscrapers. “You should start with two or two and a half inches, get used to that first. But a lot of men, when they’ve been married for ten years, they walk in front of their wives. When a woman is wearing heels they have to walk more slowly, but sometimes their husbands won’t wait for them.”
Megan Fox Dazzles in Red at Jonah Hex Premiere

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty, News,

She may claim to be a homebody, but Megan Fox lived up to her sex symbol reputation at the Los Angeles premiere of new movie Jonah Hex last night.
The stunning actress - who is regularly voted one of the world’s sexiest women - wowed onlookers in a custom-designed red silk Giorgio Armani Prive mini-dress which was slashed seductively down to the waist, leaving little to the imagination.
“Megan looked superhot and really was the star of the show. No wonder she has so many male fans all over the world - that Brian Austin Green is one lucky guy!” said one onlooker.
Erin O’Connor to Continue With Catwalk

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News, Rumors,
Age is nothing but a number for Erin O’Connor, who has no plans to retire from the catwalk.
The 32-year-old beauty wants to carry on down the runway for as long as possible as she doesn’t think age has anything do to with a model’s ability to pose for the cameras.
“I hate that idea of retirement or ‘You’re past your sell-by-date.’ That is very odd, because, for me, it is about moving, showcasing and being an outrageous poser.”
Erin says she absolutely loves being in the fashion industry and finds being on the catwalk liberating: “You’d think after 15 years I would be bored, but I’m not. The catwalk is like liberation, because there is a bit of performance involved, a bit of skill thrown in, so it doesn’t matter what age you are.”
Now she is one of the more experienced women in the fashion industry, Erin recently set up the Model Sanctuary, which offers respite and a full-time nutritionist to very young models, as she knows they need help when starting out. “These are really young people. They don’t always realize that they need to set their own boundaries.”

True Blood star Evan Rachel Wood has become the face of Gucci’s new perfume.
The 21-year-old actress will front the campaign for the Italian fashion house’s latest female fragrance and Gucci creative director Frida Giannini thinks she is the ideal choice.
“I chose Evan Rachel Wood as she has very strong character. She’s young, but rising and influential figure. I didn’t want to offer this project to someone overexposed or too well known. Instead, I wanted a fresh individual that would coincide with the image of the project.”
Frida says she was inspired to sign Evan after seeing her on the big screen as her confidence oozes through: “Evan Rachel Wood is such a talented and beautiful actress. I have always admired her confidence and her ability to transform herself in front of the camera. Even though she can appear shy at times, when the camera starts rolling, she becomes animated and vivacious. She is incredible, very sexy, and her eyes and face really attract the people of her generation.”
Exact details about Evan’s debut for the brand have yet to be revealed.

Quote of the Day: Crystal Renn Hates the Word Plus-Size

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News,

“Part of the problem is this focus on straight sizes and plus sizes. It is creating an ‘us and them’ mentality. We need to change the way we approach the whole thing, and do away with these terms. All we are is a bunch of models, no matter what size. Among women at large there’s no separation into straight sizes and plus sizes. The term ‘plus-size’ leaves the public confused. In the industry a size eight is considered plus. In the wider world women don’t think like that.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt Wants to Look Like Gisele, Halle

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, Models, News,

Jennifer Love Hewitt would love to have Gisele Bundchen‘s body.
The Ghost Whisperer actress says she is still in the process of achieving her ideal figure after piling on some pounds in late 2007, and while she doesn’t want to get too thin she knows she still has a little way to go.
“I think I’m a work in progress. But I feel it’s so much better than it was a year-and-a-half ago, and I feel like in another eight months, it’s going to be so much better than it is today. I’d want to have Gisele Bundchen’s body. Even though she’s tall and skinny, she does have curves and I think that’s hot. Halle Berry also is kind of amazing.”
