Helen Mirren’s Beauty Advice

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty,
Dame Helen Mirren holds her stomach in to make her look good. The 65-year-old actress is often applauded for her toned midriff and says the secret behind it is to make sure she’s breathing in at all times.
“Holding your tummy in is another trick for making you look and feel good. I don’t know why, but I do, by nature, hold my tummy in.”
Although she has been happy to strip off in many movies, Helen admits she’s not entirely comfortable with her body and dresses to flatter it: “Bits of my body are all right, but bits of me are horrible. To be honest, anything from the waist down I don’t really like. Four-inch platforms give you great height and make your legs look unbelievably long. I used only to be able to get them in stripper shops, but now you can buy them everywhere - although, unfortunately, that means everyone else has discovered the trick too.”
The Oscar-winning actress also hit out designers who don’t cater for older women.“My big complaint is, why aren’t more dresses made with sleeves? I don’t want to wear a frumpy jacket over a sleeveless dress and it enrages me that it’s so difficult to find anything beautiful with sleeves. If you think of Elizabethan dresses or turn-of-the-century fashions, there are some amazing things you can do with sleeves, so why do so few designers put them on their dresses?”

Amanda Ross thinks Kate Moss is the ultimate style icon.
The Lipstick Jungle stylist - who is the Global Fashion Director for W Hotels Worldwide - says she is a huge fan of the supermodel’s dress sense because she has her own unique look and is always so well turned out. :“I really love how Kate Moss looks. She knows a style that’s good for her and always looks great. She’s such a trendsetter too. I also like the way Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard dress as they always look so elegant and sophisticated,” said Amanda, who recently helped W Hotels formally launch its Winter 2010/Resort 2011 Global Glam collection at New York Fashion Week.
Her new role for W Hotels means Amanda gets to travel all over the world and admits one of her favorite cities is Copenhagen in Denmark because the people are all so stylish. Speaking at the launch of designer James Small’s new movie Journey, where guests included Kate and Sadie Frost, said, “I’m so fortunate that I get to go to all these fantastic places and I’d have to say Copenhagen is the most stylish city for me. Reality star-turned-entrepreneur Kim Kardashian needs to be wearing make-up to feel sexy.
The 29-year-old socialite explained that while people think she looks like “a 19-year-old” when she opts for the natural look, she prefers the “glamour girl” look.
“When I don’t have make-up on, everyone’s like, ‘Whoa, you look 19!’ But I’m a glamour girl. I love make-up. I love hair. I don’t feel sexy unless I’m fully made-up.”
Despite the brunette beauty admitting that having Botox injections in the past was “not a good experience”, she wouldn’t be adverse to going under the knife for a more invasive procedure in the future.
“You know, I’ve tried Botox. I felt it made my eyes more, like, squinty and small. It was not a good experience for me. You have to grow old gracefully. I don’t know if I’ll be saying that after kids - I may want a lift or something - so I’m definitely not opposed to it. But I don’t have the butt implants everyone says I have!”
French Vogue Celebrates 90th Anniversary With Lara Stone’s Breasts

While French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld made it clear that the magazine's 90th anniversary issue was going to be big, I didn't realize that they meant zooming in on model Lara Stone's large chest for the cover! "Vogue Paris has always played the card of audacity. We couldn't do a lukewarm issue," Roitfeld said. Again, I never expected Vogue to disappoint; however, I don't necessarily agree with bringing the supposedly-classy fashion pages down to Playboy status. Is the October issue of the fashion glossy too much or just the right amount of shocking?

Olivia Palermo Signed as New Face of Mango

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, Models, News,
From a supporting
friend
actress on The City, Olivia Palermo is moving her career up to modeling status as the new face of Mango. The 24-year-old beauty will star alongside model boyfriend Johannes Heubl in the campaign, which she admits was initially embarrassing to shoot.
“At first, it was really embarrassing - but then I remembered it was just him and I could be normal - so then it was really fun.”
However, she is unsure if the Spanish brand - which is also fronted by Scarlett Johansson and Poppy Delevigne - will show the shoot internationally. “I don’t know about that but I’m really pleased to have done it.”
It is not yet clear if she will design her own range of clothes for the store as former models Penelope Cruz and Milla Jovovich have done. Earlier this month, Olivia confessed she has a whole host of ambitions in the fashion industry: “I want to act, model, try it all. Designing a collection will come in time.”
“I play around with different styles. I don’t think I can wear the clothes I wore when I was 20, now that I’m 24,” she explained.
Kim Kardashian Praises Victoria Beckham Designs

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty, News,
Reality star Kim Kardashian loves Victoria Beckham’s clothes.
The E! actress often struggles to find outfits which flatter her curvaceous figure, but says that the pop star-turned-fashion designer’s dresses are ideal for her shapely behind and busty frame.
“Victoria Beckham‘s totally my style icon. I wear her dresses constantly. There are some clothes out there I just can’t wear because of my body type. I definitely can’t wear short shorts! They’re not flattering! I also can’t wear anything too baggy, because being busty on top, looser fitting dresses almost make me look pregnant. I need to wear more fitted outfits. That’s why I love Victoria’s dresses so much - because they are so fitted and flattering for my body. I wear them all the time. I was so exited when Victoria Tweeted me. I’ve met her once. We have some friends in common, she’s very sweet.”
Kim’s struggle to find clothes to fit properly comes after years of needing to have her outfits altered: “I have to get a lot of my clothes customized.”
The 29-year-old beauty adores the British fashion industry, and is jealous of Kate Moss’ “effortlessly chic” sense of style. “I love British style icons. I went to see a show Alexa Chung put on out in New York. She totally has her own style and is so pretty. I also love Kate Moss. She’s just effortlessly chic,” she added.
