Cara Delevingne Dresses as Sexy Soccer Player for Victoria’s Secret Show
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Shows, Models,
Cara Delevigne dressed as a sexy soccer player at the Victoria Secret's fashion show on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old model donned a naughty kit-inspired lingerie set as she walked down the catwalk in high-waisted shorts, a tucked in open-button shirt and a bright blue bra. Cara sported ankle-boot stilettos with knee-high socks rolled down, while she clutched a ball emblazoned with the Victoria's Secret initials.
Taylor Swift kicked off the show held in New York City with her hit "I Knew You Were Trouble," while wearing a Union Jack print mini-dress accompanied with a matching train and top hat, which were splattered with paint. Fall Out Boy, indie band A Great Big World and UK-based girl group Neon Jungle also took to the stage to perform a few of their own tracks during the British section of the show.
Lily Aldridge, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Lily Donaldson, Erin Heatherton and Candice Swanepoel also graced the catwalk in lingerie, which tied in with the themes of Snow Angels, Shipwrecked, Parisian Nights, Pink Network and Birds of Paradise.

+ Realizing that there is actually a profit in larger-sized clothing now that their business is failing, Abercrombie & Fitch - who raised controversy this year over refusing to sell larger sizes for women - has decided to eat their words and sell larger sizes to "compete against rivals."
+ Jennifer Lawrence - who joins Pamela Anderson and Kristin Chenoweth in getting pixie cuts this month - says that she cut her hair short because "it just couldn't get any uglier."
+ Alessandra Ambrosia is feeling a little nostalgic as this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show approaches, as she offers up a candid backstage photo of her and fellow Angel Adriana Lima from 13 years ago.
+ Mario Testino shot Winona Ryder for next month's cover of V magazine - and is she as stunning as ever! Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele styles her biker chick looks, which seem to reflect the character she portrays in her upcoming film, Homefront.

Kate Upton for Victoria’s Secret?
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Models, News,
UPDATE: Kate Upton claims that Victoria's Secret used this 2011 image of her without her permission.
Is Kate Upton on her way to earning a pair of Victoria's Secret angel wings?
A leaked page from the upcoming lingerie giant's catalog reveals that the 20 year-old model - who has graced the covers of Vogue and Sports Illustrated - has been recruited to sell their famous undergarments.
Accepting the gig comes as a little bit of shock, considering that the casting director for the company's televised runway show, Sophia Neophitou, had previously stated that she would never have Upton on her catwalk: "She is too obvious. She’s like a page three girl. She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and the kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy."
Is this catalog gig a step towards forgiving Ms. Neophitou now that she has garnered clout in the fashion community (keep in mind that Anna Wintour picked her over current fashion darling and newly-appointed VS Angel Karlie Kloss)? I guess we'll just have to see if her famous curves appear in next year's extravagant runway show.

Cathy Horyn Continues to Blast Slimane’s Saint Laurent Collections
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, News,
The feud between Hedi Slimane and New York Times critic Cathy Horyn continues, as the Saint Laurent fashion designer banned her again from his show in Paris.
Unfortunately for Slimane, the slight downside to an age where a show's images are immediately uploaded onto the internet for all to see is the fact that it helps someone like Horyn to be able to critique the show without having been there.
Horyn began with lambasting Slimane's decision to remove "Yves" from the label's name - something that had previously caused many raised eyebrows in the fashion world: "One of the first things the new designer, Hedi Slimane, did was to remove “Yves” from the label, thereby severing a symbolic connection to the founder, and everything he stood for, like good taste and feminine power."
She then went on to blast the clothes, which she pointed out were disliked by others, too: "Many people said the clothes looked like stuff sold at Topshop or a thrift store, while others defended Mr. Slimane’s approach and identified pieces, like a pink fur chubby, that relate back to Yves’s designs of the late ’60s and early ’70s, when he got ideas — say, for a pea coat — from the street. It’s doubtful that customers will make that connection, but such comments serve to validate what Mr. Slimane has done."

Items Du Jour: KStew Wears Victoria, Everyone Forgets How to Dress Well at EMAs
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News,
+ Although Kristen Stewart seems to favor t-shirts and sneakers when not on a publicity tour, but she cleans up quite well when she is! Although she doesn't seem too much of a Victoria Beckham fan, Stewart looked great in an orange number from the popstar-turned-designer's eponymous line at an appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael.
+ EMA host Heidi Klum may have worn Versace the whole night of the event, but not all of them seem to be the best of fashion choices. The same goes for the rest of the stars that evening - Lana Del Rey wore the most plainest black dress while Kim Kardashian looked like she was wearing a train of black trash bags.
+ Want a pair of heels you might have seen on display at the Victoria's Secret fashion show? Unfortunately, designer Nicholas Kirkwood says he's not selling them - unless you want to special order some through his stores, of course. He also seems to hint at the possibility of collaborating with the lingerie giant in the future.
Items Du Jour: Ralph Lauren Casts Plus-Size Model, Rashida Flaunts It

+ After having caused previous controversy with their Photoshop-happy campaigns, Ralph Lauren has hired plus-size model Robyn Lawley for their upcoming campaign. The 23 year-old size 8 model has previously been published in Vogue Italia and French Elle.
+ George Michael and Kate Moss prove that they're besties on next month's French Vogue cover, which looks more like a paparazzi shot than a major fashion publication's cover.
+ Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones leaves the laughs at home for her Flaunt photo shoot, in which she trades her girl-next-door image for that of a Victoria's Secret model.
+ What do you do if you're Adele and a major label like Burberry asks you to be the face of their next campaign, yet you can't wear any of their clothes? Easy! You demand that they create some plus-size styles or the deal is a no go.

Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls to Host Revamped House of Style
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Shows, Models, News,
Just like plenty of movies and fashion trends these days, television shows are also constantly being recycled. MTV, for one, has decided that it's time to bring back the nineties fashion-centric House of Style - this time, however, it will be hosted by models Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls.
MTV announced the news at Thursday night's Video Music Awards, which both models attended to raise awareness of the upcoming program (in addition, of course, to their primary job of just looking stunning on the red carpet) “I can’t believe it," Smalls said. "I’m in shock as well,” Kloss added. “It’s unbelievable and such a huge honor. We have major shoes to fill.”
Cindy Crawford, Amber Valetta, Molly Sims and Rebecca Romijn were a few of the models who hosted the original show back in the day. “Both industries have changed quite a bit. So it’ll be interesting to see how we show that," Kloss said.

+ Britney Spears posted a sneak peek on Twitter of her upcoming Elizabeth Arden Fantasy Twist campaign. If the unoriginal Cleopatra theme actually sells you on the fragrance, you can pick up a bottle beginning September 1.
+ In order to garner more buzz about her upcoming retrospective runway show, Betsey Johnson is throwing a contest for fans through Facebook. If you're determined enough to dig up your closet (or your mother's!) for vintage Betsey, you can upload a photo of yourself wearing it and may just end up showing it off on the runway.
+ Mariah Carey follows in the footsteps of Katy Perry and the Muppets with her upcoming nail polish line. In a collaborative deal with OPI, the songstress will choose eight new shades to be sold under her name in January.
+ Reality star-turned-fashion designer Nicole Richie models for her Macy's line looking like her usual smokey-eyed, bohemian chic self. Early sketches of the design reveal Richie's love of the seventies and peacocks.

Dolce & Gabbana’s Real Models
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Models,
Dolce & Gabbana used "real men" in their Milan Fashion Week show.
The fashion house decided against using models on the catwalk, instead sending 73 Sicilian men and boys aged between 12 and 43 - with occupations including student, house painter, barber, and waiter - down the runway accompanied by a live band in traditional costume.
Explaining the unusual showcase of the collection - which was largely monochrome linen, silk, light wool and chiffon - Steffano Gabbana said, "We wanted to put our clothes on real men because fashion should be for real people."
The show's finale saw all 73 men don dark suits and white jackets which were each slightly different to one another.
Elsewhere, Jil Sander made her return to her eponymous label, with her first collection in eight years showing an update to her signature minimalist style with colour and more modern cuts.
