Christian Louboutin, shoe god

Even though it seems as if everyone is doing a diffusion line for either H&M, Target, or other major retail chain, there’s one designer who is counting himself out: Christian Louboutin.

While he’s happy to shell out his time and effort for Barbie, it seems as if the shoe designer has no other collaborations in mind: “They [H&M] proposed me to do the diffusion line and I declined… Not that I don’t think it’s an interesting idea, but it’s a lot of work really, so it’s just difficult for me to do it.”

When asked about whether he would consider such a project in the future, my dreams of purchasing an affordable pair of his godlike creations were crushed. A girl can dream, eh?

Vanessa Paradis modeling for ChanelFrench songstress and starlet Vanessa Paradis is the new face of Chanel lipstick.

The 36-year-old actress-and-model will star in a global campaign for the luxury make-up range’s new collection Rouge Coco de Chanel, which will be available to buy from 2010.

Chanel said that Vanessa was chosen due to her “modern elegance, boldness of character and power of emotion.” No further information on the advertising campaign or who will shoot it has been announced.

It is not the first time Vanessa, the longtime love of Johnny Depp, has worked with Chanel: in 1992, she starred in adverts for the luxury fashion house’s Coco perfume. In the campaign, she was seen dressed as a bird swinging from a cage. In 2003, she became creative director Karl Lagerfeld’s muse and promoted Chanel’s Cambon handbags. Two years later she starred in campaigns for The New Mademoiselle handbag.

Christian LacroixFrom one runway to another, Christian Lacroix is set to design private jets.

The French designer, who filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, is in talks with Sheikh Hassan bin Ali al-Nuaimi—the nephew of United Arab Emirates ruler Ajman—about investing $70 million in the company. Al-Nuaimi wants to become the majority stakeholder and despite the current global economic downturn, the sheikh has bold plans for the brand. He is keen to transform the fashion label into a luxury lifestyle brand with a range of products including lavish palaces, planes and hotels.

Al-Nuaimi said, “The idea is not to focus on fashion by itself. We are discussing different activities in leisure… private jets, hotels, high-quality yachts, palaces, and interior decoration. We will focus on very exclusive areas and don’t want to sell his name cheap in the market.”

Lacroix, who counts Christina Aguilera among his celebrity fans, will need approval from a French court before the deal goes ahead. A decision is set to be made by the end of the month.

Shoe designer Manolo Blahnik

First were his comments about Sex and the City. Now famed shoe designer Manolo Blahnik is saying that he hates celebrities—well, at least just the pointless ones.

“I hate celebrities. All those pointless girls—I won’t name names, but you know who I mean. They are ‘famous.’ Ridiculous. I like women with style: actresses like Uma Thurman, icons like Audrey Hepburn. I like women with style to wear my shoes.”

Ouch. Too bad he didn’t name names! Then again, he does still want to be in business.

Jean Paul Gaultier to design for TargetIt really is the new rage among fashion designers. From Thakoon to Proenza Schouler and Anna Sui to Rodarte (as well as many, many more), Target is taking no clear break when it comes to penning the deals with collaborators.

Whose creations will we be expecting next? Jean Paul Gaultier! Rumors about Gaultier signing on with Target went around for awhile until receiving confirmation this weekend. In fact, I don’t think that I’ve been this excited for a diffusion line since Alexander McQueen.

For the Designer Collaboration series, Target asks that the designer select a muse: “Jean Paul Gaultier for Target pays tribute to the American woman, celebrating the forces of style both past and present in American pop culture, the retailer said.”

Interesting… Well, we’ll just have to wait until March 7th, when the pieces hit stores (although I’m sure photos of the line will have leaked before then) to figure out just what that means.

Lindsay Lohan and designer Estrella ArchsI hate

love to say it: everyone told you so, Ungaro.

Critics did not bide well with the House of Emanuel Ungaro’s Spring/Summer ‘10 collection, which debuted at Paris Fashion Week. All eyes, naturally, were glaring at the much-buzzed about celebrity advisor Lindsay Lohan, and she wasn’t willing to take the hits without a fight.

The first of her many excuses was “coming in so late and having not that much time to do a whole collection.” As if she didn’t revel in the positive, hopeful stories on her exciting appointment—accepting the offer so last minute wasn’t exactly something the currently-blonde actress thought out.

She also claims to have no idea about those infamous nipple tassels: “I wasn’t aware of the nipple tassels on the girls until they were walking out.” Surely she must have been intoxicated during that meeting.

The best explanation was her inexperience card, which she actually believed to be legitimate, stating that she’s “still learning.” Shouldn’t someone be firing her already? There’s a reason why people aren’t employing her in films, people.

Khloe and Kim Kardashian with Bebe founder Manny MashoufAs if the world didn’t have enough celebrity clothing lines, the Kardashian trio have decided to follow the trend and create clothes, too.

With their plans to design for Bebe’s Spring/Summer ‘10 collection, everyone will have the chance to look like a Kardashian at a fraction of the cost.

“Kourtney, Khloe and I are designing for Bebe! This is honestly a dream come true! We have always loved fashion and have wanted to design for such a long time and now we finally are! I love Bebe and wear their clothes all the time so I cant wait for our collections to come out in the spring! You guys are going to love what we’ve come up with!” Kim wrote on her blog.

To me, this makes entirely more sense than Miley Cyrus for Wal-Mart.

Let’s just hope that CEO and founder Manny Mashouf will allow them to use better, more suitable materials than what I’m used to seeing in Bebe stores. Many women, I’m sure, are willing to spend the $120 on a dress, so long as one at Forever 21 doesn’t look better designed than it. I digress.

Selena Gomez looking to design her own clothesWatch out, Miley Cyrus—Selena Gomez is launching her own organic fashion range.

The 17-year-old actress, who has appeared in numerous family movies and TV shows since she was discovered by Disney in 2004, is designing a range of “inspirational” and “eco-friendly” clothes for young girls.

“With my line, I really want to give the customer options on how they can put their own looks together. I want the pieces that can be easy to dress up or down, and the fabrics being eco-friendly and organic are super important. Also, the tags will all have some of my inspirational quotes on them. I’m just looking to send a good message.”

The Wizards of Waverly Place starlet will be working alongside Generra designer Tom Melillo and Sandra Campos to perfect her collection.

Ad from MAC/Dsquared2 cosmetic lineAfter revealing a successful and campy Spring/Summer ‘10 collection, Dsquared2 designers Dan and Dean Caten are moving on to a make-up line with MAC. Why stop with their edgy clothes when they offer an amazing make-up set?

Focusing on eyes and cheekbones, the Canadian twins provide you with the optimal tools to perfect the sultry, smoky look (hey, it is MAC, after all), with items starting at $17.50.

Unfortunately, like all good things in the fashion world, the collection is only available for a limited time on MAC’s website. Speaking of which, if you need any advice on applying your newly purchased Sculpt and Shape Powder ($21), apparently MAC’s make-up artists are available Monday through Friday until 10 p.m. EST to assist you via live chat. In other words, why drag yourself out of bed to get to the MAC store when you can sit your lazy arse on your computer chair and get the same help? That’s what I thought.

You saw the images of Jimmy Choo’s H&M line. Now you can get a better experience and effect from the collection when you watch the ad campaign, which features Sasha Pivovarova and Edita Vilkeviciute.

Hopefully you’re doing a better job than I am at saving up for the line, which hits stores November 14th in 200 stores across the country. One must also note that, unlike the other lines released on Thursdays, this one comes out on a Saturday (and it’s Jimmy Choo!)... Just sayin’.
