Donatella Versace Loves the ‘Desirable’ Christopher Kane

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers,
Donatella Versace believes Christopher Kane is a success because his designs are "desirable" to women.
The Scottish designer has been working with Donatella's fashion house since he consulted with her for the first time in 2006, and she thinks he does so well because he knows what women are looking for in clothes.
"You know, I'm so proud of him. His last collection was amazing. Such confidence and creativity. Christopher's clothes are so desirable. He loves women. To combine that newness with clothes women desire makes him in another league - even an aristocratic fashion league, I should say," she said.
Christopher has been creating clothes for the Versus (Versace) line since 2009, and Donatella - who has previously compared him to her late brother Gianni Versace - reveals she loves his work because he so "respectful" to the Italian fashion house: "He is so respectful of the brand. He looks through the archive but always movies it forward. He listens, and people who listen will have a big future, success in life."

Karl Lagerfeld to Create Self-Inspired T-shirts

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers,
Karl Lagerfeld is to create four limited-edition T-shirts inspired by himself.
The Chanel creative director is to collaborate with British brand I Love Dust to co-design the garments for both men and women under his Karl label, with patterns featuring letters making up his face and designs taking inspiration from a sketch of a leather glove.
"Designing limited-edition T-shirts for someone like Karl Lagerfeld is every graphic designer's dream," said Mark Graham, founder of I Love Dust.
The T-shirts will be available to purchase on his KARL website and at a pop-up store in New York as well as Colette in Paris from Thursday.
The 78-year-old fashion designer has previously collaborated with Diet Coke, H&M and Net-a-Porter throughout his career, which has featured a number of controversies including calling British singing sensation Adele "a little too fat" in February, despite admitting he is a fan of her voice. "I prefer Adele and Florence Welch. The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice," he said at the time. Karl eventually apologized for his outburst and gave the singer a collection of Chanel's bags to say sorry.

Roberto Cavalli thinks Cheryl Cole is the "perfect Cavalli woman."
The Italian designer - who dressed the "Call My Name" hitmaker for her appearance on talent show The Voice on Saturday night - believes the singer is an ideal person to wear his clothes because she is "strong, confident and sexy."
"Cheryl is the perfect Cavalli woman. Strong, confident and sexy," he said.
Roberto and Cheryl designed a custom-made outfit consisting of vibrant colors mixed with leopard print as well as waistcoat shapes from his Spring/Summer 2012 collection for the 28-year-old singer's performance on the BBC One show - and he found it a "great pleasure" to work with the brunette beauty.
"Cheryl and I have had a relationship for many years. It was a great pleasure to collaborate with her in designing an outfit, especially for her performance on The Voice. We used the signature Cavalli Fantasia and leopard prints to create a show-stopping outfit that enhanced her high-octane performance," he added.
Giuliana Rancic’s Fashion Line Inspired by Her Father

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,
Giuliana Rancic was inspired to create her own fashion line by her father.
The TV presenter's dad was a tailor in Naples, Italy and as a result Giuliana always wanted to create her own collection but she insisted costs were kept down on G by Giuliana so that it would be affordable for her fans.
"My father has always had clothing stores and had men's and women's clothing, so I've always had fashion running in my veins. But I'm not crazy, not delusional; I didn't try to do a line and sell it to the top department stores with a crazy price tag. I just wanted something that everyone could get," she told People.
Giuliana is so happy with the collection she is already planning to wear it on her reality TV show Giuliana & Bill and for her work on Fashion Police and E! News. "It's super affordable, easy to just wear. I'll be wearing it on my shows. I think people are really going to like it."
G by Giuliana will launch on the Home Shopping Network later this year.

Stella McCartney opened her first ever standalone Adidas by Stella McCartney store over the weekend.

It's very much part of the world of the Stella McCartney store that we have opened in Brompton Cross, and it's really the icing on the cake, as far as it is expressing the different facets of the brand."

Louis Vuitton Named World’s Most Valuable Luxury Brand

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, News,
Louis Vuitton has been named the world's most valuable luxury brand.
The French fashion house - whose creative director is Marc Jacobs - took the title for a seventh consecutive year after being valued at $25.9 billion following a study based on analysis of company performance and consumer interviews conducted by global research company Millward Brown Optimor.
Louis Vuitton beat off competition from Hermes, which was second with $19.1 billion, and Swiss watchmakers Rolex were third with $7.17 billion.
"Luxury is seen as a good investment with people increasingly buying classic pieces rather than high fashion. Those who can afford it indulge, including young professionals who, increasingly unable to buy houses, are spending their disposable income on mid-tier luxury," Nick Cooper, managing director of Millward Brown Optimor, said in a statement.

Beth Ditto Wants Her Own Fashion Line

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,
Beth Ditto wants her own clothing range. The Gossip singer - who is famed for her plus-sized figure - created a fashion line for British high street store Evans in 2007 but says she would like to design a collection on her terms.
"I wish that there was more control in that line, but there wasn't. It was really fun, but the things that I really wanted couldn't be turned around in time. It was made in India, which caused a lot of conflict for me. I really want to do my own line that's ethically made, and I can do whatever the f**k I want with it. I also want to start an online vintage store, kind of like Re/Dress [Brooklyn's now-closed plus-size boutique]. I want to do a buy-the-outfit function, and I want to show how outfits look on all kinds of different body types, even boys and butches."
Beth also spoke about Karl Lagerfeld's recent comments about Adele, in which he claimed the singer was "a little too fat."
"First of all, Karl Lagerfeld is not even sane. Second of all, he's not the end-all, be-all of what he does. He's really talented, but that doesn't mean he's right. Third, Karl Lagerfeld used to be this really fat, eccentric dude. He always had that fat kid fan with him too. To me, only a person who was fat could get away with saying something like that," she said.
Georgia May Jagger ‘Thrilled’ to Work with Madonna

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Models, News,
Georgia May Jagger is "thrilled" to be working with Madonna and her daughter Lourdes on their fashion line.
The model was announced as the new face of Material Girl on Wednesday and says she is delighted to work with Madonna because the "Gimme All Your Luvin" singer is one of her style icons.
"To be handpicked by Madonna and Lola [Lourdes] as the new face of Material Girl is truly amazing. It all came together rather quickly. My agent received a call from the Material Girl team saying Lola and Madonna wanted to work together with me.
From talking with Lola, she and her mum liked my style and thought it would be a good fit. I've always admired Madonna's style and I'm thrilled to be working with her and Lola. I dressed up like her for a school dance once! The campaign will break this summer. I'm sworn to secrecy until then, but we shot in New York and it was great fun," she said.
The 20-year-old model- whose parents are Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger - is also the face of Rimmel London and is currently in Paris shooting a campaign for Hudson Jeans.
