The Extraordinary Lily Cole
Lily Cole can thank her “porcelain doll” face for landing a role in a feature film.
The British model, who is known for her pale complexion and auburn curly hair, can thank her “extraordinary” looks for helping her land the part in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.
“I needed someone extraordinary looking. She’s an extraordinary physical specimen. Firstly, there’s that face that looks like it belongs to a 19th-century porcelain doll. And then, fantastically, it’s on top of this fall structure. But as you look down this structure, it’s not some flat-chested model. It’s a girl with boobs, and then you have legs that go to the ceiling. She’s almost like an alien specimen,” Gilliam said.
Because of her pale skin-tone, the 21-year-old beauty always wears make-up with an inbuilt sun protection factor (SPF) to protect her from damaging sun rays: “I wear SPF make-up, but I don’t apply SPF on its own unless I know I’m going to be spending a lot of time in the sun.”
