Sarah Jessica Parker to Present Award to McQueen at CFDA
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker will present the posthumous Special Tribute Award to Alexander McQueen at the Council of Fashion Designers America (CFDA) Awards on June 7.
The Sex and the City 2 actress will award the prize to the British designer - who committed suicide in February - as a special tribute to his work. The pair famously walked the red carpet together at the Costume Institute Gala in 2006 in matching tartan outfits.
Commenting on his death at the time, Sarah Jessica said some of the designer’s work was “jaw-dropping”:
“He was talented well beyond his years and the seriousness and unrivalled talent which he applied to his work is in bountiful display year after year and collection after collection. Every single inspired, original, lofty, whimsical, stunning, brilliant and jaw-dropping detail was Alexander McQueen.”
Author Caroline Kennedy will present the Eleanor Lambert Award to Vogue fashion editor Tonne Goodman, who has previously exclaimed her pleasure at receiving the prize: “It’s lovely to be recognized for something that you love as much as we do - I have loved my job and my work and the people that I’ve worked with.”
