Joan Rivers Criticizes Lena Dunham
Joan Rivers has blasted Lena Dunham for embracing her curves.
The Fashion Police host accused the Girls creator and star of "sending a message out to people that it's OK to stay fat and get diabetes" by refusing to conform to Hollywood's super skinny stereotype. Speaking to Howard Stern on his Sirius FM radio show, the 80-year-old comedienne advised the 27-year-old Golden Globe-winning star, "Don't let them laugh at you physically. I'm saying if you look the way you look Lena, that's fine and you're funny, but don't say it's OK that other girls look like this, tell them to try and look better."
Joan also begged the actress to let her style her after she questioned Lena's choice of clothing in relation to her body type, asking, "How could she wear dresses above the knee?"
The controversial star, who caused outrage when she criticized Spanish actress Elsa Pataky's figure after she attended the Oscars while heavily pregnant with her newborn twin boys earlier this month, dismissed Howard when he came to Lena's defense, saying, "I think the thing we love about her is that she doesn't give a s***. She did a whole (Girls) episode in a bikini. It was the funniest f**king thing I ever saw." She replied, "Oh, every woman gives a s***."
Earlier this year, Lena admitted that she had been called "fat and hideous" but had finally reach a point where she "radicalized" her relationship with her "own body in order to accept it."
